Interviews: Maxdmyz

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Maxdmyz, from UK. Check out this band because they are amazing and do not forget to follow them in their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Twister: This is a question, as you can imagine, we get asked all the time. So this won’t come as news to any of our fans, and it’s true. The guy that came up with it was dyslexic – and I didn’t have the heart to tell him it didn’t mean anything – at least when you google it, you only get pages about the band as well as the odd Polish maths website.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

A’Zedd: This band has a huge number of difference influences that make it what it is – but the common denominator I think is passion, melody, structure and a kind of respect for the experience of the listener – it just so happens that  as boys getting into music for the first time, it was heavy music that appealed to our adolescent energies and grabbed us most – it’s the energy and the emotional extremes.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Vortex: No.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jay: For me it’s the Cardiacs, and A’Zedd, like his jazz, so Miles Davis. Roger, I think, Morbid Angel and Twister, probably Type O – or I can see him mouthing the words AC/DC to me as we speak – and Vortex is a Velvets man. But they’re all giving me evils now, so I’ve probably got these completely wrong.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Roger: Boredom, sex, death, drugs, mental illness, deep shock, anger resentment – oh, and boredom again.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Unicorn in Camden – a pleasant time was had by all.

7. Where would you like to play?

Vortex: I’ve always loved The Camden Palace (or Koko, as it is now) – it’s a fantastic venue and in one of my favourite parts of Londfon.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A’Zedd: We’d play with anybody!

9. Whom not?

A’zedd: Ah, good point. Anyone from the eighties – that whole decade makes my teeth itch.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Twister: Not for years – but I did an acoustic set the other night for a K2K radio and that was pretty scary – just because I’ve never performed on the acoustic in public before. In my early teens, hen I first started playing, I always used to eyeball the guy in the audience I thought it most likely that I could beat up – and then I’d just stare him out for the entire gig.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Jay: Slayer and Joni Mitchell.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Vortex: Two fat hamsters and a bag of grapes.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Roger: It’s very easy to absolutely adore and love the people discerning enough to be in your band and music – so that’s what we do.

14. What do you think of our site?

Vortex: In a previous life, I was a website designer and analyst – and, yes, the home page is very visual and immediately involving – navigation is clear and the content is engaging and clealry laid out. For a small fee, I could make it even better though – joking!

15. Something to add?

Jay: Yeah – thanks to you guys for having the immense discrimination and good taste to want to interview Maxdmyz – no, seriously, love music and love it live!
