News: Revolver Streams Honky Full-Length

Revolver Magazine is currently streaming Corduroy, the latest full-length from Austin-based superboogie veterans, HONKY in its rump-shaking entirety! The premiere comes on the eve of the record's release on Housecore Records.

HONKY features long time Butthole Surfer/part time Melvins bassist JD Pinkus, guitarist Bobby Ed Landgraf (Down, Skrew), and drummer Trinidad Leal (Dixie Witch). The Revolver stream comes on the eve of the record's official release via Housecore Records. Produced by JD Pinkus and mastered by Paul Leary with artwork and layout by Ryan Everett, Corduroy boasts a talented cast of bashers alongside Leal including Michael "Night Train" Brueggen (Blackula, Syrup, Supagroup), Dale Crover (Melvins), and even original HONKY drummer, Lance Farley. As well as uest appearances from Mark "Speedy" Gonzales and the Fantasma Horns, and the band's favorite Honkette, Rae Comeau.

Maximum Volume Music calls Corduroy, "absolutely brilliant," adding that the nine tracks on deck are, "just about as fine a bluesy boogie you are gonna get anywhere this side of [ZZ Top's] 'Tush,' or, 'Sharp Dressed Man." Sea Of Tranquility rallies, "with songs like 'Outta Season,' 'Baby Down Slow Down, 'and the title track so full of addictive grooves, raunchy guitar work, occasional horns, strong lead, and backing vocals, and just a warm vibe, it's hard to imagine these guys falling as far under the radar as they have," the blog further elaborating, "You can certainly hear a bit of Pat Travers attitude in spots, as on the scorching guitar workout 'Ain't Got The Time,' the blues rock workout 'Double Fine,' and certainly the cover of the Travers classic 'Snortin' Whiskey.' For some swampy country a la David Allan Coe or Willie Nelson, look no further than 'I Don't Care,' a tune littered with acoustic and slide guitars that shows another side to the band. For a good ol' slice of Texas styled rock 'n' roll, you can't go wrong with Corduroy."

HONKY will bring their Lone Star grooves to the stage with three home state shows in June and July before heading to Europe for a stretch of shows which include an appearance at Zwarte Cross Festival in the Netherlands as well as Zwarte Cross Festival in Belgium with additional live performances to be announced soon.

HONKY was founded in 1996 and proudly carries the torch held by the likes of Bloodrock, Pantera, ZZ Top, and the red-headed stranger himself, Mr. Willie Nelson. Over the course of two decades, the band has released some of the best stripped down, butt-shakin', rock ever cut to wax, tape, or CD.
