Interviews: Alesana

In this new occassion we have had the incredible opportunity to interview the famous Post-Hardcore band Alesana, from USA. Check out the interview and don´t forget to give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you take the idea for the band name?

It was named for the street where Patrick and I lived when we first began writing music together.  The street was Aliceanna street.  We just changed the spelling.

2. Why did you decide to play post-hardcore/emocore music?

Alesana considers itself to be sweetcore.  Genres are polarizing and divisive so we just made one up.

3. You're one of the few bands that stayed true to their sound. Would you love to make an album that's really different than the previous ones?

I feel like each album brings unique elements and dynamics in comparison to their predecessors.  We try our best to stretch our sound without completely abandoning the elements that make Alesana what it is.

4. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us were friends beforehand but the large majority of us met because of the band.  I actually met Dennis in a restaurant and randomly asked him if he wanted to scream in Alesana.

5. What motivate you as musicians?

Our fans, friends, family, and each other.

6. What motivated you to start this label "Revival Recordings"?

It was a large goal of mine for years.  I wanted to create an environment and culture that encourages young artists to be themselves and hopefully give them a platform to build and grow their fan bases.

7. Did you have some ideas for the bands you wanted or they came like that ?

I love working with bands that I truly love and believe in.  Style and genre aside, I just want to work with good people making good music.

8. The Emptiness is more experimental than the others, would you love to make an album that narrates a story?

Like The Emptiness?  Yes, I love The Emptiness.  A Place Where The Sun Is Silent and Confessions are also both telling a story, the story of Annabel.

9. Where was your last gig?

Chile in South America.

10. One of the best concerts that you remember was...

Mae, Mew, Gwen Stefani.

11. What can you say about your fans?

We have the best fans in the world.  We would be nothing without them.

12. Any weird question a fan has ever asked you?

Nothing too out of the ordinary.
