Interviews: Meka Nism

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Metal band Meka Nism, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name Meka Nism is basically derived from our singers name Meka. It revolves around the idea that the band members act as their own units but when together we create a very powerful machine.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

The metal genre as a whole is a large family and a loyal one at that! We try to bring attention to self awareness and help people think in a more positive light. We also like creating the atmosphere for people to heal and release during our shows. Metal is powerful and we have a powerful message so it works hand in hand.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all knew each other before the band was started. Orlando and Orlando as a scene is pretty tight knit so everyone kind of knows everyone.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Meka has stated Janis Joplin as being her favorite artist/ band. Bobby's favorite band is Metallica, Jeremy's favorite is Pantera, and Jay has said either Metallica or Ozzy.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our inspiration comes from really anything. Meka might come up with a chorus that's catchy as hell, from literally out of nowhere or Bobby may write a guitar riff because he was watching a horror movie. I guess if all depends. However, we are all die hard musicians and have dedicated our lives to playing music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at the house of blues in Orlando, Florida.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to be in Europe touring and playing the festival circuits. Also returning to Japan would be another goal due to Meka's past experience there touring Japan with over 150 shows.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We were just on a tour with Avatar in May, and we love them! What an amazing band and we feel as though we are a good fit with them. So if we could tour around with them, that would be amazing.

9. Whom not?

I don't think there is really anyone that we wouldn't tour with but we prefer to be with bands like us and in positive situations.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I know I have! early on it was tough for me to get rid of the anxiety or nervousness. I found that if you practice like you're playing live that helps a lot, because what you are doing is preparing yourself for the real moments on stage. So in essence, there will be less room for error because you've done everything already. Once you get comfortable over time, that helps too.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I know that Metallica, iron maiden, and big bands like that have always inspired me, but when we were on our tour with avatar, seeing how hard they work and how similar we all were really inspired us to try and take Meka Nism to another level.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

The weirdest thing a fan has ever asked me for was the remains of my beard that I shaved off once. It's hot in Orlando and I decided to trim it and sure enough I got a post on Facebook about me selling it or them wanting to have it .

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans so much it's not even funny. They are the reason we are here and where we are today. We try to tell them how much we appreciate them and show them as much as possible. We call them our tribe and we are honored to have each and every one of them!

14. What do you think of our site?

We love the site and want to thank you for helping us spread the word amongst all the other amazing bands on the site. It's places like your site that help music spread across the world and open people up to new bands.

15. Something to add?
