Interviews: Actual Villains

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Post-Hardcore  band Actual Villains, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea for the band name came from our love of Batman. It came to us while watching a lot of the animated Batman series on Netflix at the start of the band. We wanted something completely different than our former band name (Close To Home) and something that would stand out.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We've always had a love to all types of music but have the most fun playing energetic songs on stage, so that's why we wrote songs on the EP like, "Stay Tonight", "Wasted Youth" and "Lie To Me".

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No. I [JJ] ordered a mail order bride online from Russia but Andrew showed up.. I was disappointed at first but slowly took a liking to him... Just kidding. Yeah, we were in a band together before called Close To Home.

4. Each band member favorite band?

That's always a tough question and we can never narrow it down to just one because we all like to many different types of music equally. That's kind of what molded our sound as Actual Villains.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Every day life to be honest. We write songs about personal experience and hope they can connect with others who are listening.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played a hometown show in Cincinnati, OH. It was awesome and scary because it was the first time really showing an audience our new band/sound but it turned out to be a great time!

7. Where would you like to act?

On Broadway... Just kidding... Again, sorta. But honestly we'd like to play anywhere people would listen.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

The Weekend would be cool. I think we could make an interesting song with their R&B feel and our style of music combined.

9. Whom not?

That's tough because there are so many artists in the world but obviously it would just sound weird if we did a song with a country artist haha even though we do love a lot of country music. There are some ridiculously talented people in that genre of music.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we've all suffered from a slight case of stage fright but it was nothing we couldn't overcome.

A tip for the beginners would be to just remember that you're on that stage to have fun and to show off something that you've created. Fuck whoever doesn't like it. You're there for the people who DO like what you're doing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

A lot of bands from that mid '00's have inspired us a lot. Bands like 30 Seconds To Mars and the Used just to name a couple.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't had any super weird requests just yet but I'm excited to see what happens in the future haha

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think that our fans are amazing. Our family and friends would be the only ones listening if it wasn't for them. Fans keep bands going. They are the ones who constantly share statuses and help spread the word about your band. Anyone who treats their fans like garbage are the pieces of shit who don't deserve to have any talent and should be banned from the music industry.

14. What do you think of our site?

It looks good. It's an easy to follow format which makes things easier for people who visit your page.

15. Something to add?

Have you heard of the Gorilla that was shot at the Cincinnati zoo a couple months ago? His name was Harambe. Never forget.
