News: JADDAN COMERFORD & MATT EMSELL LAUNCH 1825 RECORDS

Matt Emsell and Jaddan Comerford are proud to announce the launch of their new venture, 1825 Records. The new label will utilise the expertise of its co-founders and focus on signing and developing Australian acts then exporting them overseas, which Emsell and Comerford have a successful history of with acts such as 5 Seconds of SummerMatt Corby as well as Vance Joy and The Amity Affliction respectively.

1825 Records will see the pair combine their love of Australian music with their expertise in navigating the music industry internationally to create a label model that gives artists signing worldwide deals out of Australia the best chance of breaking on a global scale. Emsell is a Brit based in Los Angeles and Comerford is an Australian residing in New York City, which places them in a prime position to foster local acts and showcase them on a worldwide stage.

With a deal in place with Atlantic Records in New York and Warner Music Australia, the global reach of 1825 Records will allow the team to sign artists for the world, and they are set to take on the task.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Jaddan and Matt on their exciting new label venture,” says Atlantic Records Chairman & COO Julie Greenwald. “We’ve developed a terrific relationship through our work together on Vance Joy, The Amity Affliction, and Matt Corby, and we’re constantly impressed by both their A&R vision and their 24/7 dedication to their artists. Australia today is breaking great music with global potential, and the entire Atlantic team is looking forward to the amazing artists that we know 1825 will be bringing us in the months and years to come.”

Warner Music Australia Managing Director Tony Harlow shares this sentiment: “1825 is something new, different and unique. I think only Jaddan and Matt would have the worldview and contacts to put something like this together. I feel totally excited that this will be a new opportunity for Australian artists on a world stage and, who knows, some world artists in Australia. We can’t wait to be part of it.”

1825 Records will be based in Sydney with Meg Meredith handling the day-to-day operations of the label. Meredith joins 1825 Records with a history of working with emerging artists such as Alison WonderlandSafiaand Little May.
