News: Spirit Animal remix Solange's "Weary"

Brooklyn-based alternative rock band, Spirit Animal, continue to turn heads and tune in ears with their boundlessly creative musical offerings. Fresh on the heels of unveiling their epic “Big Bad Road Dog” music video, which Bloody Disgusting raved had “elements of Wrong Turn, Mad Max, The Walking Dead and a pure, good ol’ fashioned 80’s beat ’em up,” the band is back with something very different for fans to dig into. Having a knack for genre blending and an appreciation for artists across the musical spectrum, Spirit Animal took to the studio to create a remix of a song they just could not get enough of, Solange’s album favorite “Weary”.

 

When asked about why they chose to take on this song, the band shared, "I don't know what Solange's 'Weary' lyrics are about specifically, but in light of this week's tragic election they are absolutely haunting. What makes the Solange record so fresh is how it subtly brings genres together. I suspect this is why it has brought people together as well. These are both things we hold very dear in Spirit Animal. The idea behind this remix was to keep it part of the same conversation; a way to expand on the album's subtle, genre-blending essence, while (hopefully!) bringing even more people in."
