Track By Tracks: Devils Envy - Dead Inside (2016)

1. Candlelit Massacre:

This is a piece about being a hopeless romantic stuck in a hookup culture. A song about love, lies and lullabies. Basically a lash out from the pain we've felt from being in a toxic relationship,  and the hope of having those 'romantic dinner table moments' we often wish to have, but instead it felt like we were in the middle like a massacre; Killing every ounce of feeling and emotion you had for that person, that has continued to use and abuse us mentally, emotionally and even physically.

2. Wicked:

A rebel's anthem. Some of us are so eager to abide by the rules that hinder our growth and creativity. From birth, we're forced into being molded by society's tradition that is comparable to a dead horse. And they just keep beating it. So this song encourages all if not most, to "embrace the wickedness inside." The feeling or urge that makes us who we are in an artistic way. Encouraging those to who are not used to music that's outside of their preferred genre, to try something new and different. Encouraging those to stand up for what they believe in, without fearing what the next keyboard warrior might get offended for. To not be afraid of seeming insane to small minded people. There's no need to apologize when you're doing what you love. And that what this song is about.

3. Look At Me Now:

Have you ever wanted to have that perfect song that was so upfront; clean, cut, and dry, that you could shamelessly dedicate to anyone that has ever pushed you down, doubted, bullied, and betrayed you? Or even speak up against someone who thinks they're better than you because of their social status? Well, this is it. This one doesn't hold back. The lyrics may seem simplistic, and may not make any sense grammatically. The whole idea was to cut as deep as possible, while remaining cryptic, and not saying much. And that's usually how you want to cut people off, if they've wronged you; Quick and easy.

4. Dead Inside:

A very cold and dark place some of us have struggled to get out of, and leave behind, but we always seem to find our way back there. Our silent killer in society is the inner turmoil we suffer from and don't seek help for. The song is about battling demons no one will ever know about, because of how strong the hold is on some of us. It's about battling against our own selves, and finding a way to break free while being tempted to take the 'easy way out.' Besides revealing some truths to how we're being controlled, this song is another way to let others know they are not alone. Even though we may feel like we are.
