Interviews: Divided We Stand

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock/Groove  band Divided We Stand, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our band name is Divided We Stand for a reason. We have such different views and ideals. While we were in the first phases of our band we had so many different ideas of what direction to go in. Someone said don’t be so divided and it dawned on us “Divided We Stand” literally.

2. Why did you want to play in this genre?

Some of us had played in nothing but metal bands and some of us had played folk and rock so as the band progressed and we added members our music evolved into a rock/metal blend.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

It started out with Mike Russell, Phil Zimny and Trevor Tucker jamming out. Later they added after a random try out. Joe Tuner was just hanging out with the band but after trouble finding the right vocalist he tried out and to our surprise he had a golden voice. After Trevor left to pursue other ventures we had a few guitarist come and go on till  we found Jake Wilson.

4. Each band members favorite band?

Mike Russell’s favorite band is All That Remains, Phil Zimny is in liking 12 Foot Ninja, Jake Wilson has always repected Green Day, Randy Krouse listens to Fear Factory daily, Joe Tuner loves U2

5. Who or What inspires you to write songs?

We listen to a wide range of music but we never try to take from other artists. We try to play whatever direction our emotions lead us. The key to great music is emotion.

6. Where was your last gig?

We headlined in Maryville, Tennessee at Barley’s pizzeria. Good food and beer is always a awesome.

7. Where would you like to act?

We have toured all over the United States but it would be a milestone to travel to another country like Mexico or Canada. We love to travel and take in other places.

8. Whom Would you like to feature with?

We would love to play a show with Gwar. They are a legendary band and would awesome to party with those guys. If you have never seen them you have no idea their level of insanity.

9. Whom Not?

Justin Bieber. Just Sayin

10. Any of you ever suffered from stage fright. Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I don’t think any of us have had stage fright to bad. When you play your first 1000+ crowd or there is some hot model in the front you can lose your nerve but if you lose yourself in your music you feel like a god. There is no better feeling to me than being on stage pouring my soul into the music. People feed on that sort of stage presence. If you just stand there all stiff and awkward people get turned off and leave. It’s better to go all out than to hold back.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I am always inspired by bands that have worked hard for what they have. One band in particular is Chimaira. They clawed and scratched their way. I respect bands that create something new and don’t follow the crowd like 12 Foot Ninja or Mr. Bungle.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has asked you for?

Besides being asked to sign shoes, underwear, and appendages. We had a random new fan ask us to take them with us to our next few shows. We have worked on random fans vehicles.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We have personal ties to a lot of our fans and we love interacting with anyone who reaches out to us. When we play at a new place and our music connects with someone, that is something special. I don’t feel like our music just belongs to us it belongs to everyone who listens and connects to those emotions we stumbled across in the writing process.

14(Q: What do you think of our site?

Breathing The Core is a cool avenue to find some new artists and see some vital information. I like that they are not afraid to feature unsigned artists and I believe that media such as this is whats keeping rock and metal alive.

15. Something to add?

We like tacos!
