Interviews: Northwoods

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Post-Hardcore band Northwoods, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the 'Northwoods' band name?

We wanted to portray the relation between the powerful thoughts of our mind in our head (North) & being unknowing or unsure, our thoughts jumble and mesh together to form the bind of confusion, forgetting what path we need to take, (woods).

2.Why did you want to play melodic post hardcore?

So Zach wanted to branch out from the usual hardcore scene that he had been in. He wanted to sing more and reach a bigger audience. While Anthony wanted to play melodic hardcore. Jon, Nacho and Kris enjoyed a more mellow sense with some music and liked the indie style. With all of this combined, it's very difficult to state what kind of music it is, and we want to stick with the genre confusion. We just want to make the best music we can, But this was the best way to describe it.

3. Did you know each other before you started the band?

Zach and Kris had been in a band called The El Paso Gunfight together a few years before. And Anthony and Nacho worked with Zach at Vans before as well. And Anthony REALLY wanted to start a band for a while, so we teamed up and Jon and Zach were mutual friends as well. We all just came together and all wanted a similar style and message.

4. Each band members favourite band?

Anthony: To many to mention
Zach: Bring Me The Horizon
Jon: Grandview
Kris: I, The Mighty
Nacho: Elcest

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Honestly just life in general. We all have stressors, struggles, anxiety, etc. we've all had tough experiences, or something's in life that we just need to express or let out. And what better way to do so, than through what we write?

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was Lions Lions Cd Release in Manchester, Nh (Bungalow Bar and Grill).

7. Where would you like to act?

Honestly everywhere and anywhere. Travel is one of the coolest things, especially when it comes to playing music for new people, getting to meet them, and see their reactions to us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with in your next album/single/EP?

We've had discussions of Lynn Gunn of Pvris, or Bradley Walden of Emarosa

9. Whom not?

Fronz.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I feel like we all have at some point in our music careers. Anthony admitted he was rather nervous in our first show, he said.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Underoath, Crooks, Casey, Pink Floyd and Basement.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for after a show?

Jon: "After the Lions Lions show someone came to the merch table all excited and was like you guys have been a band for a really long time huh? I was like no not really... and he was like oh and walked away"

13. What do you think of your fans?

They're what drive us. Sure we do whatever we can to get our name out there. But seeing them in our shirts, or getting to interact with them after shows, it's incredible. After our release show, a girl came up to us crying, that Dreams was her favorite song, that it touched her and could relate, an thanked us for writing it, and I don't think it could have been a more influential moment to why we're here in the first place.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's a great platform for people to learn of new music, get updates on some great bands, and just interact. We're stoked to be a part of it now!

15. Something to add?

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!
