News: HE WHOSE OX IS GORED: Ethereal Progressive Sludge Unit Kicks Off Tour With Samothrace Tonight; "Paralyzer" Seven-Inch Available

Ethereal sludge unit HE WHOSE OX IS GORED kicks off a near-month-long US tour with Seattle doom merchants Samothrace this evening in Great Fall, Montana. The band's latest journey will run through June 10th in Oakland, California and includes Void Omnia, Noothgrush, and Graves At Sea on select dates.

"We always look forward to hitting the road, to see old friends and make new ones," comments Lisa Mungo (synths, vocals). "This tour will be extra special for us because [guitarist/vocalist] Brian [McClelland] will be pulling double duty, playing guitar in Samothrace as well as HE WHOSE OX IS GORED. It's always fun and inspiring to see your mates playing in different projects, especially ones made up of so many close friends."

Adds McClelland, "As the lone guitarist in HE WHOSE OX IS GORED, it's nice to have freedom to write and perform without stepping on toes, but when working with a partner it can open up new dimensions of weight, melody, and atmosphere, and especially so with these guys. We are excited to roll this monolith out together."

HE WHOSE OX IS GORED will be touting their new "Paralyzer" seven-inch throughout the tour. Set for release via Chain Letter Collective and the band's own label Void Assault Records, "Paralyzer" was captured by renowned producer Jack Endino (Soundgarden, Nirvana, L7, High On Fire, Zeke etc.) at Avast! Recording Studio (Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Earth, Supersuckers etc.) as part of a Converse Rubber Tracks session and includes two previously released tracks - "Buried Twice" and "Void Assault" from the band's critically-lauded Rumors EP - remixed by their cohorts in Seattle's Newaxeyes.

"Paralyzer" will see official release on June 16th but will also be available throughout the tour. If you missed it, check out the visual accompaniment to "Paralyzer" (the band's first-ever video) at THIS LOCATION.

"...epic post-metal that rolls ominously like dark clouds over big sky country..." - Pop Matters

"The quartet's sound stimulates multiple pleasure centers: the sweetness of post-grunge psychedelia courtesy of keyboardist and singer Lisa Mungo as well as the muscular Botch-ish groove that few outside the Pacific Northwest can produce..." - Invisible Oranges

"...The combination between monolithic sludge and doom, complex post-hardcore nuances and colorful shoegaze elements would seem ludicrous on paper. But HE WHOSE OX IS GORED pull off this heterogeneous style with confidence and finesse." - New Noise Magazine

"...these guys understand the significance of an intense ebb and flow, and that clearly makes for beautiful, engaging music." - Last Rites
