News: SNARES OF SIXES: Yeast Mother: An Electroacoustic Mass Debut Streaming At Decibel Magazine; Crucial Blast Releases EP This Week

Yeast Mother: An Electroacoustic Mass, the debut EP by SNARES OF SIXES - the newest investigative musical outlet of Agalloch's Jason Walton - will see release through Crucial Blast this Friday, and Decibel Magazine has hosted an exclusive early stream of the record.

Fusing an intense and eclectic range of extreme and experimental approaches into a disjointed and somehow simultaneously seamless hybrid of sounds, SNARES OF SIXES' maiden recording sees co members of Lawnmower Deth, Winds, Sculptured, Blekspetl, Hollow Branches, Self Spiller, Barrowlands, Age Of Silence, Dolven, Musk Ox, The Night Watch, Maestus, and more joining the creator in his delivery of this intriguing mutation.

Offers Jason Walton of the EP, "Yeast Mother scratched an insidious and pervasive itch for me. In many ways this is an album I have been striving to make since my high school years. Once I fell in love with challenging and confounding music, I have created many vehicles to try to replicate the feeling of awe this form of music inspired in me. Especially Likely Sloth, Nothing, and Self Spiller were all created to satisfy this craving. With Yeast Mother, I believe I have finally reached that goal."

Decibel calls SNARES OF SIXES' debut, "an ambitious genre-blending work," continuing, "Harsh electronic, progressive rock, black metal, ambient sounds and more exist at once, creating an album that is unpredictable and most certainly unique."

Five years ago, in a period of downtime from the band Agalloch, Jason Walton wanted to write a strange and abrasive record; the aim was to record an album that pushed on the paradigms within metal. The result is a cohesive and challenging album that draws from seemingly disparate ideas and styles. Initially slated be a full-length album, Walton realized that he complexity and density of the material encourages listening in small dosage, and SNARES OF SIXES' Yeast Mother: An Electroacoustic Mass EP was finalized. Often difficult, frequently nightmarish, SNARES OF SIXES' output easily ranks as one of Walton's more challenging and oblique offerings, and for the listeners, one of his most fascinating. Features Marius Sjøli and Robert Hunter (Hollow Branches), Andy Winter (Winds), Pete Lee (Lawnmower Deth), Nathanaël Larochette (Musk Ox), and Don Anderson (Agalloch, Sculptured), among others. Recorded all over the world, the record was mixed at Earth in Sound Studios by Jason Walton, mastered by James Plotkin, and features graphics by Marius Sjoli and artwork by Aesop Dekker.
