News: Sussex born rockers CITY OF ASHES announce new single and June UK tour dates

Sussex born alternative quartet CITY OF ASHES announce the release of their forthcoming single 'Save Me', taken from the bands latest album 'Rise'.

"I wrote the song about growing up in Carlow, Ireland, as a teenager. It’s the last time I remember feeling truly free and a time in my life I often think about and always miss." explains frontman Orion Powell"Lyrically, it’s one of my favourite songs on the whole album and one that means such a lot to me personally."

The video for the single was made when the band headed out on their first European tour earlier this year with American rock band, Orgy. They played the first couple of shows travelling down through the UK, France, Switzerland and on to Spain. When returning to their tour bus after doing some sight seeing in Barcelona, the driver told the band that the whole tour had been cancelled, leaving them and their gear stranded.

"Nobody would hire us a vehicle so we had to leave all of our equipment in Barcelona. We then flew to London and picked up our van and drove to Germany to get our equipment back, this took nearly another week." explains Orion"I don’t know how much lower it can get than sleeping in the back of your van in Cologne surrounded by your equipment, not knowing what's going to happen or how you're going to get home. We had no money left after losing it all on a tour that got so dramatically cut short."
To add to their already increasingly stressful situation, CITY OF ASHES got a lot of backlash on social media from disappointed fans who had made travel arrangements etc to see them play. With this in mind the band made the decision to put together an acoustic show in Berlin on the same day as the original show planned.
"We actually made it happen with the help of Flo at the Ramones museum and we had an amazing time playing the set with borrowed guitars as we couldn’t afford to fly ours out. This music video has actually ended up being one of the videos we’re most proud of, simply because of what we had to go through in order to make it happen."

In 2016 CITY OF ASHES toured with Yashin after the release of their album 'Rise' and then went on to play slots at Butserfest and Teddy Rocks Festival

They head out on a UK tour run next month to promote new single release, Save Me', with the live dates being as follows:

June
13th - The Scene, Swansea
14th - Bullingdon, Oxfrod
15th - Surya, London
16th - SWX, Bristol
17th - Star & Garter, Manchester
