Interviews: Dream Awake

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Dream Awake, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name ‘Dream Awake’ is after a song by another influential band ‘Northlane’. We feel it’s a name that best represents our sound and ideas.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Most of the bands we listen to and have watched over the years play this genre. It influences our everyday lives and the message many bands of the genre bring with their music is incredibly inspiring.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, some of our members went to school together and others met through university and socially at gigs.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Conor (The Amity Affliction), Craig (Intervals), Dave (Architects), Chris (Biffy Clyro) Daniel (Life On Repeat).

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

As well as the bands we listen to, our influences relate to many personal aspects and experiences. We always like to discuss these in a metaphorical way using the the natural elements that are so important to this world. Our lyrics include many references to the sky, the ocean, nature and all we take for granted.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Cork supporting Dead Label. It was an insane show and our last before we play Download Festival.

7. Where would you like to play?

It would be amazing to get booked for more festivals like Slam Dunk, Rock am Ring, Rock im Park etc. The Academy in Dublin as a more local venue is also definitely on the bucket list.

8. Who would you like to play with?

It would be amazing to feature with bands like Architects, In Hearts Wake and Northlane.

9. Who not?

No one in particular but it makes for a better show playing with bands who are in and around the same genre as us.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Dave did when he first started doing only vocals. The best way is practice and try and enjoy yourself instead of focusing on the fact you are on stage. Gradually you learn not to care what people think because most of the time they will enjoy seeing a more confident performer.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Amity Affliction, Northlane and In Hearts Wake.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

At one of our shows, Conor split a guy's head open by diving into the crowd with his guitar. One of the guys friends asked Craig for his signature on our setlist as compensation as he thought it was him who did it.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans have been incredibly supportive and we appreciate them massively. It makes the effort we put in worthwhile and we can’t do what we do without them.

14. What do you think of our site? 

It’s great! Breathing The Core have been sharing our music since we released Pathfinder so it’s a brilliant way to help all bands of this genre get their name out.

15. Something to add?

We have our new EP ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath' to release on August 18th which you can pre-order now from our website and iTunes. After that we plan to have a heavy touring schedule and release more content such as music videos to help promote it.
