Interviews: Mental Cruelty

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore/Downtempo band Mental Cruelty, from Germany. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We just looked for something brutal. our first name was Stillbirth, but that brandname already existed. We wanted something that has never existed before.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This genre of extreme brutal metal is where we find the most thrill of creating something new. It’s one of the most challenging music genres and all of us enjoy this kind of art, we also listen to it in our free time a lot.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Last year we basically formed the band completely new. Once formed in 2015 Lucca (me) is the only band member left. 2016 was also a big year for us because through Marvin as a new guitarist we now got the possibility of creating our music on a complete different level. We changed from dumb beatdown to slamming downtempo/deathcore, because that’s what we all love.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Infant Annihilator, Black Tongue, Behemoth, Mayhem, Dio; Black Sabbath, the Black Dahlia Murder, Kraanium, Vulvodynia, acrasia, Bound In Fear, Lorna Shore, Aversions Crown, Castiel, Analepsy, Whitechapel, Suicide Silence ( Old stuff…)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Difficult question, the most inspiration comes when  you actually don’t have any recording possibilities like in the car or in the shower. Infant Annihilator is like our full time favorite band. We get inspired by nearly every type of music even the classical music.

6. Where was your last gig?  

Holland w/ Vulvodynia & Stillbirth on their EU Tour

7. Where would you like to act?  

An US Tour would be dope, but at the moment we’re 100% happy with what we just achieved.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

Our dreams became reality as dickie allen from Infant Annihilator told us he’d love to feature on our funl length.

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

No no one of us ever experienced such a feeling. But there’s always a feeling of not knowing what will happen on stage, but that’s what makes it special every time we hit the stage! Drugs should never be a solution to avoid stage fright…

10. What bands have inspired you the most?  

Infant Annihilator, Castiel, diverse slam / death core bands we found on the internet.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

There was never something special because we just started playing shows this year.

12. What do you think of your fans?  

Our fans are amazing, we never could’ve dreamed of so much support over the last months. The most amazing feeling for us is when somebody wants to take pictures with us, especially with people that just watched our live set and come to us after the show, best feeling in the world!

Love it how you support bands on instagram and how you keep your followers updated through the whole genre of metal.
