Interviews: InVisions

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band InVisions, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Alex: Lucas came up with the band name which was one of many options. We finally settled on InVisions for literally no reason whatsoever.

Lucas: It wasn’t until after we had recorded our first single ‘Unbreakable’ that we decided on ‘InVisions’. We were going back and forth with a load of different ideas for a while and I just remember it was one of the ones I wrote down on the list. I pitched it to the guys and it instantly stuck.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Alex: Metal is unlike any other genre of music to perform. The sheer energy and power at metal shows is infectious.

Lucas: Because that’s what we do best haha. But in all honesty it’s the raw energy and full body impact i get from heavy music. I think I would be bored and struggle getting into playing any different genre live.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Alex: Lucas and I have known each other and been jamming together since we were teenagers. Every member of this band as a whole has known each other for years through the local music scene.

Lucas: Apart from our drummer Josh we all knew each other. I knew Alex Scott (Guitar) from our previous band we had played in over the years and Ville was originally a friend of a friend who reached out to me once his previous band parted ways. We met Josh through a recommendation from our producers (Sam & Joe Graves @ Innersound Studios) and after meeting up with him for a drink we instantly clicked and haven’t looked back since.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Alex: My Favourite band is Iron Maiden without a doubt. Everything about them from the live show to album artwork is just unlike any other band. They paved the way for pretty much every modern metal band today.

Lucas: That’s a tough question as it changes almost on the weekly basis. I would have to say currently it’s Architects. No matter how many times I listen to their albums I still hear something new in the music and I dig that!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Alex: Musically, I am inspired by the artists I listen to be it metal, rap or even pop. Lyrically, we write a lot about personal experiences. I feel that’s the best way to connect with people who could potentially listen and relate to what we have to say.

Lucas: I find going to see bands live and playing live myself gives me a fresh wave of inspiration for writing. A lot of the time after we’ve got back from a show or been to see a band I want to get straight into writing mode whilst the adrenaline and energy is still fresh. Lyrically I think it’s a product of our environment. I have so many lyric pads in my phone which I’m constantly adding to whilst I’m out on the go. Then when it comes to writing it’s making sense of it all.

6. Where was your last gig?

Alex: Our last show was the closing date of our July UK tour in Derby.

Lucas: We actually just got back of tour this morning. Our last show was in Derby!

7. Where would you like to act?

Alex: I’d love to play Download Festival. It’s probably the most prestigious
rock/metal festival in the world and one I’ve been to multiple times. It would be a dream come true.

Lucas: I’d love to play at download festival. I think it’s a universal thing for all
metal/rock bands to want to play there as it’s has such a worldwide prestigious
heritage within the metal community.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Alex: Everyone dreams of playing a show with their favourite bands – so for me that would be the old school metal heavyweights; Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slipknot etc…

Lucas: It’s got to be Bullet for My Valentine or Trivium. They were the two bands
that really brought me into the metalcore world so it would be unreal to share the stage with them.

9. Whom not?

Alex: One Direction. I feel like our music might not go down well with their fans.

Lucas: Peter Andre. He can suck it.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on
how to beat that?

Alex: Weirdly enough, if I’m going to get nervous for a show, its only ever at smaller venues. People can really see what you’re doing and scrutinise your playing. As for beginners…remember that you don’t have to be absolutely perfect when playing live. That’s part of the beauty and attraction of live music. Every show is slightly different and your fans will enjoy that fact.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Alex: Personally I’m inspired by a lot of older metal artists going back to the 80s and 90s. I also listen to a lot of hip-hop and rap which plays a major role when it comes to writing songs for InVisions.

Lucas: I’d have to say Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium as they changed the way I thought about writing and playing guitar riffs. Vocally and lyrically I’ve always loved the depth of Linkin Park but in contrast you’ll find a lot of Eminem and Dr. Dre playing in the van whilst we’re on the road.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Alex: A fan once asked me to sign their boobs while I was in my old band. It’s not actually that weird – it’s just awesome.

Lucas: To be honest we haven’t had anything that weird asked of us. We’re pretty weird guys as it is so there hasn’t been anything that we’ve thought was particularly strange!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Alex: Fans are what make or break your band. Luckily for us we are establishing a really loyal fanbase in anticipation for our debut album! I couldn’t be more grateful for how badass the people are that come down to party at our shows!

Lucas: They’re badass! Everyone we have met, spoke to and hung out with have been cool as hell. We have a lot of fans who go out of their way to smother their friends with our music which is real dope!

14. What do you think of our site?

Alex: I thinks it’s great. Any site that prides itself on promoting new bands and new music is fantastic in my opinion. It’s a platform to give new artists the exposure that they need!

Lucas: The site is dope! It’s a great place to discover new bands and get to know what they’re all about!

15. Something to add?

Alex: I once wrestled a crocodile with my bare hands. That was a lie. But if it was true I probably would have tapped out in the first round.

Lucas: Make sure you pick up a copy of our debut album ‘Never Nothing’ dropping August 18th and catch us on the road later this year!
