In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal/Djent band The Cartographer, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
There really wasn’t a idea or a plan for the band, jay and James started by jamming with a few other lads that was in before and nothing really came of it but as soon as Dan join it all clicked together and we just wrote and wrote and still going today! So really what was planned to be a little mess about turned into a serious band that we want to succeed in.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Well we all grew up around listening to different types of metal when we was younger, but as we all got older and eventually met each other it was clear that we wanted to write music with this much aggression! So its probably down to the energy and aggression you get when playing or even listening to this style of music!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Only a few month prier to the band former jay and James new each other and we didn’t meet Dan until a few months in and tom until late last year! But it feels like we have known each other our whole lives now!
4. Each band member favourite band?
Jay: After The Burial
James: He says Meshuggah but we all know its aqua
Tom: Heart Of A Coward
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The idea of possibly helping someone out with whatever situation there in at the time, be it good or bad is a massive thing when it comes to our music!
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show we played was at the hairy dog in derby, supporting Martyr Defiled!
7. Where would you like to act?
My personal goal (jay) would have to be 3rd stage at download or get on vans warped tour for an entire summer, that would be awesome!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
The feature being someone in one of our songs? We would all have to say Aaron matts from betraying the martyrs and J Hurley or Jot Maxi from hacktivist!
9. Whom not?
Honestly we would be open to work with anyone….other than any of the Kardashians or Justin Bieber, that would never happen!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
None of us have ever suffered no, but we all still get a little nervous before going on a stage but every time its gone when the first note is played! But a tip to remember is that when you walk out on that stage and all eyes are on you, remember that
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Most of our favorite bands inspire us, every time we write something new there's some sort of new inspiration in there. But if we had to narrow it down to maybe 2 bands, they would be After The Burial and Architects.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
If we are entirely honest we haven't had many things weird happen to us when we have played shows, but someone asking us all to sign an EP before would be one of the craziest moments we have had
13. What do you think of your fans?
They stand for everything we do, If someone is giving even a few moments of there day to listen to our music, it means more than they would ever imagine!
14. What do you think of our site?
Your site is awesome, the fact that as soon as you click the link to the home page everything you need and want is right there for you straight away without annoying links everywhere and clutter!
15. Something to add?
We are currently writing our new album which will feature 10 tracks and hopefully a few surprises so keep an eye out for that and dates as to when we will be releasing it!
