Interviews: SHADED

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk band SHADED, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We spent far too long thinking about what we could use for a name - it got to the point where we were getting EP artwork made and a name hadn't even been finalised! But at the last minute, we threw a couple of ideas around and Shaded came through.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

As a band and as individuals it's what we've grown up listening to and loving.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Callum and I have known each other for over a year now, however, we met Dan and Barney through our previous guitarist! We'd been having loads of trouble finding people who shared the same drive that we have, until one day our old guitarist introduced us to the guys (who just happened to be his housemates!)

4. Each band member favourite band?

Callum: Mcfly

Matt: Marianas Trench

Dan: Brand New

Barney: Little Mix.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Lyrically, it's mainly things that happen to me or affect me, positively or negatively. In terms of instrumentation, it's usually a big accumulation of our influences or what we're listening to at the time!

6. Where was your last gig?

Hometown Festival @The Portland Arms, Cambridge.

7. Where would you like to act?

A huge short term goal of ours is to play the Underworld! We've been going to shows at that venue for years and it's a place that we'd love to play. Hopefully this EP cycle could help us achieve that!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Vans Warped Tour is the dream!

9. Whom not?

If we experienced another band showing an open dislike to, not only our music, but to us as people, I think we'd swerve that. But there definitely aren't any current artists or bands that we wouldn't play shows with!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We've all played in bands prior to Shaded so, luckily, stage fright hasn't been too much of an issue yet! As far as dealing with it goes, just remember that every musician on this planet is overly critical of themselves and gets nervous about how they'll sound or how they'll play. Odds are, 99.9% of the audience aren't musicians so, should there be any subtle mistakes or slightly off notes, no one is going to notice! Just forget that people are watching and enjoy yourself!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

It depends. As individuals, theres a huge list of artists that have inspired us but, as a band, artists like State Champs, With Confidence and Homebound are who we were really listening to at the time of writing the EP. The more refined and technical pop-punk sound is what we love and try to emulate.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't actually experience anything weird at all yet! (key word there is 'yet', haha!)

13. What do you think of your fans?

Well, if we have any, I'm sure they're all absolutely great!

14. What do you think of our site?

It's really cool! Easy to navigate around, aesthetically good too.
