News: BIONATOPS: Title Track To Voices Full-Length By Bizarre Prog/Tech Metal Act Playing At Metal Injection

With the Voices debut album from bizarre prog/tech metal act BIONATOPS set for September release through Nefarious Industries, the title track to this demented spectacle has been immortalized in society through a Metal Injection-hosted debut.

Voices sees BIONATOPS creator/instrumentalist Joseph Spiller (ex-System Divide, Caricature, The Binary Code, Too Late The Hero) joined by drummer Jeff Willet (ex-Black Crown Initiate) creating a boldly bizarre mutation of progressive, technical, and overall plainly odd metal.

Metal Injection refers to BIONATOPS as an, "extremely strange and ridiculously catchy group," noting that the "Voices" track, "is just totally nuts. Some of the vocals make you feel like you're listening to an old school Primus song (as does the rest of the album), while some sections are just stupid heavy."

Offers Spiller, "So the first song droppola of the Voices album is the title track... imagine that! I feel that if you are going to do a heavily themed album then it's probably best to use the intro and first song to set up that theme/concept. And since this is the first record introducing what BIONATOPS is, I felt I had to double down. The album is from the point of view of a lovable hill folk kinda guy that may or may not be hearing things that are not there and may or may not be telling the truth with his stories. He isn't sure either. This is the gateway drug to a land of a guy that walks through life to his own beat and is just out there to have fun. The gravity of what is going on in our world is not lost on me, but sometimes we all just need a break from that serious and losing your mind to disconnect with reality to a more fun one seems more and more appealing by the day. This record is meant to be fun at all levels."

Nefarious Industries will release Voices through all digital providers as well as a limited run CD on September 22nd; find preorders HERE.

Watch for several videos from the Voices full-length and more to be announced in the weeks ahead, as well as dates for BIONATOPS' impending East Coast fall tour with Spiller's other outfit, Caricature.

The proper BIONATOPS debut album Voices deploys an incredibly unique sound, with progressive and technical metal elements merging with spastic alternative rock. While brutal and jagged elements of metal acts like Revocation, Psyopus, and The Dillinger Escape Plan flow heavily in the band's deep grooves, an undeniable influence of Primus as well as Tomahawk, Mr. Bungle, Faith No More, and all things Mike Patton can be heard in every movement of Voices. With eleven intense and diverse tracks recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joseph Spiller, who also handled all art and video work for the record, Voices is a G-rated, family friendly album about a lovable schizophrenic southerner that tells tales of his life that may or may not be true while interacting with other voices in his head that might not even be in his head. Spiller, who records all guitars, bass, vocals, and other instrumentation, worked on BIONATOPSVoices while simultaneously writing the new album for his other band, Caricature, which took five years to complete and will also see release this year.
