News: ODDLAND: New Tour-Filmed Video For "Penumbra" Premiered Through Decibel Magazine

Finnish progressive metal quartet ODDLAND presents a fresh video for "Penumbra," through an exclusive premiere at Decibel Magazine.

The video for "Penumbra," which is pulled from the band's 2016-released Origin album, was filmed while ODDLAND was out on tour with Sensory/Laser's Edge labelmates Wolverine and Until Rain across Europe earlier this year. Combining live footage, off-stage antics, and more, the video gives listeners a personal, inside look at the members of the band.

Offers ODDLAND vocalist/guitarist Sakari Ojanen, "The video was shot during the triple headlining tour Progressive Aspects Tour 2017 with Wolverine and Until Rain across Europe. The tour was a shitload of fun so the craziness naturally transferred into the video as well. The song 'Penumbra' touches on the theme of the human need of belonging, so with all the friends we made along the tour especially the guys on the other bands the song was the perfect fit for the video. The video was shot and edited completely by the band's drummer Ville Viitanen."

In a 9/10 review of Origin, The Prog Mind offers, "ODDLAND's long-awaited follow-up is definitely worth the wait. It's an absolutely masterful example of how heaviness can be used to brilliant effect. Instead of simply chugging along, it invades our senses with brilliant composition, exploratory lyrics, and unadulterated heaviness." Heavy Blog Is Heavy plugged the album with a 4/5 review which states, "This seems to be a successful mix between dark progressive metal and approaches more often found in 'brighter' bands like Textures or Haken. For those who enjoy the tension stemming from those two focal points, there's a lot to be found here that is moving. The 'Nordic prog' scene is still growing, and it's great that ODDLAND are pushing the boundaries in their own unique, twisted way." We Love Metal's coverage of the album states, "ODDLAND's combination of intensity, melody, and complexity hits the Prog sweet spot. Origin nearly comes across as a seamless work with songs occasionally flowing into one another. What strikes me is the consistency ODDLAND has in their approach, whether in the crushingly heavy sections or the light passages."
