In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Technical Metal band Core Of Io, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
I had been driving round the solar system in my year 2000 Vauxhall Astra (shes a right babe) and spotted iO in the distance. I headed over and thought "what a lovely place this is, theres definitely a band name somewhere in here". Inside iO is its core, which even in the cold dark depths of space is alive. Or maybe id just smoked too much one night and was watching a documentary about the planets when iO made an appearance.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Personally for me; because its not boring. So much music is boring. I can appreciate a good singer, properly used repetition or a well written song but a lot of the stuff thats not technical is just boring. And I like to be challenged. I dont want to just play three chords. Being in a band isn't supposed to be easy, it'll make later years even more sweet.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I knew Luke and Gareth from uni but hadn't met them before I was 20. Luke and Gareth have known each other since they were kids. And Rich (drummer) lived in a shared house with them two whilst at a different uni. Id seen him play in a jazz band and and was amazed about how bloody brilliant he was. When I heard he was up for joining us my exact words were "no audition, get him in". His only problem is that he's a stinky hippy. lol
4. Each band member favourite band?
For myself its (in no particular order), Pearl Jam, Faith No More, At The Drive in. Lukes always going on about Katy Perry and Code Orange. Rich is big time into Car Bomb. And Gareth loves Ant and Decs first and only album. Im pretty sure hes got a tattoo of it somewhere.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life inspires my lyrics. But i cant speak for the other lads on this one. All jokes aside our taste in music collectively is vast and has tons of variety over all genres.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was a Rock Against Cancer gig near Glastonbury and it was a classic Core of iO gig. My amp didn't work before we started playing so we lost 5 mins of our set whilst I ran round the car park looking for the previous band to borrow an amp. Then the microphone kept shocking me hard. It hurt a lot every time it caught me. Ever since I watched Spinal Tap all them years ago ive not had a single gig run smooth.
7. Where would you like to play?
Download festival twice. Thats why I do this. 17 year old me went to that festival and said now I know what I want to do with my life. Finally I had purpose. Here I am 14 years later still chipping away at it. Wouldn't mind touring the world with the Foo Fighters as well.... someones gotta do it.
8. Who would you like to play with?
Id honestly love to do an epically long tour with Black Peaks because they are more than good friends of ours. Would be so much fun to be on a bus with them for a good 6 months, although good luck lasting with me that long, im a small doses guy.
9. Who not?
Vrona. I hope we never tour with those guys. Oh s**t wait. That tour starts in October. D'oh!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We are the opposite. We get full or adrenaline. Have you not seen us live? Our tempos go through the roof. And tips for people.... take your mummy and blanky with you. Mummy can hold your hand whilst you stroke blanky on your cheek whilst sucking your thumb. It'll work out just fine.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Small ones. Fellow small car boot stuffers. Our brothers. Yes big ones make you think I can do that. But its the folks down the lower end of the spectrum with us trying to crawl their way up that inspire me. The community we are a part of on this toilet circuit is the best place on earth. But I'll wave them all goodbye and leave them to fester in this bog of eternal stench when I have the chance. ha ha
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
An autograph. Who am i? Paul Daniels? Jeremy Beadle?
13. What do you think of your fans?
Fans?? Thats news to me. But to the people that buy our music and merch, travel to come see us. I love them, its as simple as that.
14. What do you think of our site?
Its great. Lots going on, music to listen to. All its missing is a decent moustache.
