Interviews: Inquire Within

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview  the Death Metal/Acoustic band Inquire Reality, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea for the band name came from lyrics that I had initially written for my old death metal band with Kelby. When that band broke up I still wanted to use those lyrics and after reading back through them I felt like the line, "Inquire Within" really fit with where I was in life and what I wanted to do with music. Those lyrics are now used in our song, "Becoming Human".

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Initially this band was going to just be acoustic since the original core members and I (Brett) had only done death metal for so long. We wanted to do something totally different for ourselves. Over time though we realized that we gotta keep making brutal music, so now we play any genre we want with this band. Our debut album has chill acoustic music, brutal death metal and a full sound spectrum in between.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Kelby and I met about 10 years ago when I started singing for a death metal band he had. Prior to that we had some classes at school together but had never talked.

4. Each band member favourite band?

For me I would have to go with Marilyn Manson or Devin Townsend. Kelby is off getting neck surgery right now so I think he would answer with System Of A Down.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I write because I think it's a fun challenge shaping a message in a song and I have a lot of pride in doing so. There isn't really a "who" that inspires me to write, mainly just the crazy shit I see around us. Since Kelby isn't here to answer for himself I think his answer would be; "I write because I'm trying to use my guitars sonic frequencies to fix my lower region issues while simultaneously opening portals to other dimensions".

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig we played was at a friends house party.

7. Where would you like to act?

Red Rock Amphitheater in Colorado would be an amazing venue to play, the view there is amazing.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I would love to do something with the guys from Cannibal Corpse, Carnifex, Lamb of God, DevilDriver, Cameron Argon, the list of metal artists I want to collaborate with goes on and on. With our first album we got Dirk Verbeuren of Megadeth and Kevin Talley from Dying Fetus. I want to build a bigger collab list for album 2.

9. Whom not?

I could make this list endless, pretty much anyone I don't like as a person or who makes music I don't like.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

The only time I had real stage fright was with my old band. Last minute before the show the band decided that we were going to cover a Lamb Of God song that I didn't know all the lyrics too. So instead of watching the opening bands I sat outside trying to get the song down but I was way to stoned for my own good. My advice would be to practice the setlist until you are completely confident with your performance and then get out there and let your body and mind go on autopilot.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Marilyn Manson, Devin Townsend, Pink Floyd, Behemoth, Lamb Of God, Gojira, Whitechapel, Alice In Chains, Cannibal Corpse, DevilDriver

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I used to drench myself in fake blood at shows and one night a fan came up to me after we played and asked if she could lick all the blood off of me.... a little kinky, a bit creepy and a lot of confusing.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I think they are badass and open minded. Daily I talk to fans online about deep tough questions about reality, government cover ups and all sorts of trippy topics

14. What do you think of our site?

I think it has a lot to offer bands and fans with a clean web layout.

15. Something to add?

The keys to global domination!!!!!
