Interviews: Speaking With Ghosts

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Speaking With Ghosts, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Tyler was scrolling through his iTunes library and was listening to what was at the time the new citizen album. Stopping at the song "Speaking with a ghost" we decided from there to make Speaking with ghosts.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Growing up a lot of us we're already listening to major artists from this genre. It felt only right to contribute to what we all already enjoyed. Tyler being the only one who started in a different genre, that being punk. He quickly adapted when he found that same enthusiasm he shared for punk, from raw emotion, in our music. Something about this genre is extremely true to ones self and how they are feeling. Because of that it is extremely easy to communicate about our lives and the troubles we face in our music and remain genuine.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We weren't originally friends before this band, however upon trying to start a band we all met through mutual contacts. From there our love of music kept us writing,  where as we all individually focused on our personal relationships with each other and quickly all became best friends.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Pat: Stick to your Guns

Ryan: Kingdom of Giants

Tyler: Blink 182

Craig: The Ghost Inside

Jake: August Burns Red

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It's different for all of us, which is interesting because all of us actually contribute different elements to the songwriting process. I personally (Ryan) write about life experiences and what I may be going through right now. Or sometimes I'll write about different struggles we universally face. Than if it's for another member I put myself in their place and write an event for them that they've gone through that I can relate with. Instrumentally we try to strip titles away and just capture the raw emotion we're feeling or that we desire to convey. Ultimately though that doesn't stop us from writing about a specific experience or event.

6. Where was your last gig?

Lefty's in Des Moines, Iowa

7. Where would you like to act?

Place wise Colorado was one of the most beautiful states we've ever been. Event wise Warped tour has been a goal of ours.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I think it's most fun to feature with the people we meet on tours and make real connections with.

9. Whom not?

Coming from different music backgrounds we really wouldn't turn an opportunity away. I think mix matching genres even could be seen as an exciting thing to try.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Of course everyone's felt nervous, however I've never experienced major stage fright. If I'd have any bit of advice it's "fake it till you make it." If you look like you know what you're doing and you're having fun, the crowd will react accordingly.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Ghost Insides between sheer power and positive message has stuck with us since the beginning. I would like to believe we drive ourselves from similar foundations.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Fortunately we've never received any crazy requests but we're open to anything, so bring it.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We hold them in high regard. Our fans remind us everyday why we do this and we share most of the experiences we write about, if not all, with them.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's nice to see media outlets paying attention to this style of music. Often times we're overlooked so we appreciate you going the distance to cover a smaller band such as ourselves.

15. Something to add?

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us and spend the time with this interview. Please check out our newest single "Woven in Gold" and keep an eye out for our upcoming album Illuminated out via Famined Records 11/17/17
