Interviews: Tenements

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Metalcore band Tenements, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

I really wish there was a more exciting reason how we came to name our band. We wanted a Scottish themed name and I was looking out the window of my flat and saw a row of tenement buildings!  

2.Why did you want to play this genre?  

We have a love for all things heavy, melodic and breakdown-y. The more breakdowns the better!  

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

I used to work in a rock bar which is where I met Chris (Bennett, Guitarist) as a colleague and Callum (Nicolson, Guitarist) as a regular customer. I knew Jamie (Whiteside, Drums) and Malcolm (Robb, Bassist) through other bands in the scene. The rest is history.  

4. Each band member favourite band?  

We all have a shared love for bands like Killswitch Engage, UnderOath, Funeral For A Friend and Alexisonfire. Some of our individual tastes range from Pop Punk to Death Metal and everything in between.  

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

Our songs' have a variety of subject matter. From typical scorn relationship patter, sleep paralysis, to general angst. We got you all covered!  

6. Where was your last gig?  

Our last gig was in support of the band Dead! in Edinburgh.  

7. Where would you like to act?  

Anywhere and everywhere that wants to have us!  

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

To share a stage with any of our heroes would be great!  

9. Whom not?  

I don't think we have it in us to hate on any bands. ELE - Everyone Love Everyone, yo!  

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

Stage fright isn't something we've ever really had issues with. Maybe buy a really big guitar amp and hide behind that. Some music oil always helps (beer).  

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

Again, mostly Post-Hardcore bands such as Killswitch Engage, Funeral For A Friend, and Underoath.  

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

We've never really had any weird requests as of yet. I remember once in my old band on a tour date some guy asked to buy every single T-shirt we had to sell. I wonder what he's been doing with them...  

13. What do you think of your fans?  

We've been blown away by the reception we've been getting from our material. It's a wonderful feeling being able to share our music with people and have them receive it so well.
