Interviews: Violent Life Violent Death

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Violent Life Violent Death, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Honestly we liked the word “violence” and we thought using in twice in “violent life violent death” sounded cool. The VLVD acronym it came with was the icing on the cake.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s the perfect musical platform to really get across the level of energy and aggression we want. Plus this genre holds a special place in our hearts, being it’s what we grew up listening to back in high school and such.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

For the most part we did. Each of us at some point have played in past bands with other members of this band, however this is the first time this line up has ever been featured in a band.

4. Each band member favorite bands?

Scott: Zao, NOFX, Motley Crue

Joe: Every Time I Die, Radiohead, Failure

Joey: Silverchair, Boston, Tesla

Justin: NOFX, Oceansize, Sigur Ros

David: Killswitch Engage, Snarky Puppy, Periphery

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Raw emotion and energy. When we write our music our main goal is to take the listener on a rollercoaster ride of hard hitting dynamics that demand their attention.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was this past weekend (September 9th) right down the street from us in Greensboro, NC at a venue called Club Orion. It was the CD release show for our buddies in a local beat down band called Peacekeepers who invited us to play with them.

7. Where would you like to play?

The next big goal on our list is to perform at Carolina Rebellion hosted right down the road from us in Concord, North Carolina, USA. It’s a very big hard rock/metal festival that takes place once a year, and would be a huge step for us that we don’t think is too far out of reach.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’ll play with any and every one. But it would be super tight to play with bands like Code Orange, Hatebreed, Every Time I Die, and Knocked Loose to name a few.

9. Whom not?

Like I said before, we’ll play with any and every one. Hell, we’ll even come play your wedding.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We’ve all been playing for a while so we’ve grown out of that. Our recommendation to beginners is to play in front of people as much as possible, and be as prepared as possible for your shows so you can go into them being as confident as possible.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

When growing up, bands like Zao, Hatebreed, Dillinger, Converge, etc, were everything to us. Their energy was relentless and we’re trying to harvest as much of that as we can but with our own unique approach.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Advice. Don’t ever ask us for advice, we can’t even follow our own.

13. What do you think of your fans?

It’s a miracle we even have any, and we cannot thank all 5 of them enough.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s a rad ass site! For those of you who haven’t checked it out yet, you’re really screwing up.

15. Something to add?

Be on the lookout for our new EP “Heavy Breath” to be released early 2018. It’s gonna be fucking wild!
