Interviews: Fathoms

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore/Metalcore band Fathoms, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

We come from a town called Brighton, it’s by the sea and a Fathom is a unit of measurement for water. So we always just hang out on the beach, the name just came to us while we were getting high and chilling on the beach.   

2.Why did you want to play this genre and did you know each other before the band was formed?  

The band came together after a few of us were already friends and knew each other from going to parties and hanging out, we all listened to the same music and loved the scene so we decided to give something back and make our own music and start playing shows anywhere we could!   

3.. Each band member favourite band?  

Ok so all time favourite, damn it’s so hard if we all had to pick one… ok so:  

Max: Brand New 

Lui: Nirvana 

James: Linkin Park 

Sam: Underoath 

Steve: The Dillinger Escape Plan  

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

Our songs reflect the world we’re all living in, and each of us as a person and what they are going through at that time. My lyrics always stem from what is going on in my life at that moment, how I’m feeling and it’s my way of venting my thoughts and emotions. I take a lot of influence from hip hop artists so I try to make that come through in the music, whilst sticking true to the metal roots of the band.  

5. Where was your last gig?  

We’re on Tour at the moment with the guys in Kingdom of Giants and Create to Inspire make sure you check those guys out! We just played a fucking awesome show in Budapest last night which was dope, and on our way to Austria now as I’m writing this!   

6. Where else would you like to play?  

We’ll we’ve already toured all of Europe, Asia, and America i guess the next place would be Australia!   

7. Who would you like to play with?  

Slipknot, Limp BIzkit, a lot of early 2000s bands like that!   

8. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

Drink Alcohol before you play…. I don’t know, we don’t really get it. You shouldn’t be scared if you know what you’re doing, so be confident in yourself.   

9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

Old ripped jeans, sweaty socks pretty much everything weird thing you could imagine we’ve had to sign it haha!   

10. What do you think of your fans?  

We love our fans and we wouldn’t be where we are today without them. We have massive respect to everybody who has bought our music/merch or came down to a show and rocked out with us and sang along to our songs all of that shit means the absolute world to us and we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
