Interviews: Hurakan

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore/Slamming Brutal Death Metal band Hurakan, from France. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Well, we pretty came up with this idea while searching for something phonetically strong. Hurakan is the god of thunder and storms in Maya mythology. (fun fact : there's a band, which I think is from Peru or something, playing traditional instruments called Huracan haha) It also means "hurricane" in english. Which is also kinda cool

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Obviously cause it kicks asses. At the beginning the project was a melodic deathcore project until we meet our bassist Raphael and we thought "Hey ! We should definitely mix some dank slamz with deathcore !"

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We're 3 for the moment. Me (Quentin : vocals/lyrics), Max (Guitars, mix, and composition) and Raph (Bass, and he also shared some ideas). Me and Max were previously in a band called COMA IV which played some kind of Death/Thrash metal with hardcore and groove influences, we parted ways with our now former band mates and we wanted to start something new

4. Each band member favourite band?

Max: Thy Art Is Murder

Quentin: The Black Dahlia Murder

Raph: Despised Icon

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A lot of crazy shits that comes in our mind, randomly (for real) I mean you listen to "The Black Sun Experiments" it tells the story of a nazi scientist attempting to create an ultimate soldier made of different corpses and animated with "occult magic mixed with surgery" (it's in the lyrics haha) Also "Intergalatic Moo Imperator" telling the invasion of an alien bovine race from Bos Taurus N-92 (from Milky Galaxy), eradicating and enslaving planet Earth. Yeah we're fucked up people.

6. Where was your last gig?

No gigs for now unfortunately but it will happen for sure.

7. Where would you like to act?

Where ever we're allowed to play.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A phenomenal number of people come to my mind, so I'd say big names of Slam and deathcore world (or even regular brutal death metal)

9. Whom not?

Well, country bands. (Seriously, I don't know ahaha).

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah, stage fright is a thing. It only lasts one or two shows. Drink a bit, it helps. Also don't look at people (I mean only for the first times).

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Anything we listen to a lot so we can bring each of our influences to the music.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Friends who are also fans of our band asking me to teach them how to pig squeal (I really don't know how to explain vocal techniques so we ended laughing as fuck)

13. What do you think of your fans?

I think they've got the best musical tastes in the world, and they are incredible to help us (slowly but surely) "grow"

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site's pretty cool, helping bands to get known, and promoting good shit. I respect that. I'm always craving for more bands to discover and this is what you bring to us, A+ fellaz.
