News: LISTEN TO THE GARAGE ROCK DEBUT ALBUM FROM THE MEN/GUIDED BY VOICES SUPERGROUP CHOMPER

Helmed by garage rock pillars Mark Shue (Guided by Voices, Beech Creeps), Nick Chiericozzi & Mark Perro (The Men, Dream Police), and Russell Hymowitz (Dream Police, Junk Boys), it comes as no surprise that Chomper’s debut album is a riff-fueled furor. Taking cues from rock ’n roll pantheons like The Stooges, MC5, and The Damned, the four-piece unleashes brashness and brio by the kilowatt. Stream the album via Iron Pier today. 

 

A formidable collective in its own right, Chomper is a supergroup that yields far more than the sum of its parts. Tackling acid washed garage rock with a fast ’n loose attitude, the seasoned quartet approaches each track with a marauding intensity. Drawing from each member’s background in the lo-fi rock scene, Chomper combines gnarly primality and infectious melody to create one pile-driving grip of songs.

 

Originally Mark Shue’s brainchild, Chomper fully materialized after a grip of offhand jam sessions with one goal in mind—to play loud, loose, and stress-free. That low-pressure, high-octane approach eventually yielded the eight tracks recorded to 2″ tape in one day with producer Travis Harrison.

 

Medicine Mountain will be released via Iron Pier on November 10. The band will be celebrating the release with a hometown show at Secret Project Robot on November 14. More updates to come.
