Interviews: INSOLVENCY

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Metalcore band INSOLVENCY from Framce. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I love the end of your question!

As a French band we didn’t realize at first what was the meaning of our band’s
name, we just found it sounded nice (from French point of view and only judging on its pronunciation). But then we figured it’s meaning when we started talking with Medias!

We decided to keep it and to more think about insolvable life!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all have several influences with guys: Pierre is fond of Metalcore like While She Sleeps, Wage War, Mickael is fan of Death Prog and Death Metal in general with crazy fast and psycho Drums. Myself fan of Scandinavian Metal like Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, Wintersun Death Melodic things and Val like the same stuff!

We all love each style despite all and we like to mix the influences of each of us that are what makes music interesting to us!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Only Valentin (Guitar and Vocals) and his friend Jules (ex guitar player) did know each other as good friends before forming the band! Then Mickael joined them via friends of friends who knew him well. Pierre (Bass / vocals) was hired by Jules.

About myself, I did not know these guys since I was far away from our main town because of work. I met them via a post on a music group on FB and I knew I had to contact them.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Me: Children Of Bodom
Val: Trivium
Pierre: While She Sleeps
Mickael: Ensiferum

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Pierre and Valentin have written a majority of songs, I’ve written only my solos. The guys just create riffs and melodies naturally and then we build something from it and make it a whole song with the feeling you know. We like to make it melancholic, angry, but always with melodies, what we all love in music. Lyrics are inspired by how we feel about life in general with all can happen: Consumption society, violence, despair etc… The lyrics are built around how it feels about it. We avoid targeting things directly; we keep it a bit blurry, not easy to explain!

6. Where was your last gig?

Last gig was in our hometown in Troyes in December (small city 1:30 hour far from Paris) we shared the stage with nice bands from Paris: FRCTRD (We Are Triumphant) and Mastercrow (indie band).

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d love to act at a nice festival; we can obviously mention the famous Hellfest, or also downfall or also The Wacken in Germany or also Summer Breeze. Vans Warped Tour could be great as well as Knotfest! Big dreams make big project happen, just a matter of time maybe?

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

While She Sleeps or Architects!

9. Whom not?

Hmmm I could say Justin Bieber, even if he’s doing lovely music!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I did a lot at first but then it turns out as a good thing to feel to push us to always give the best! With time and the more shows you do the less you feel it as a bad thing!

Working a lot at home like if you were in gig can help ^^ (standing up and acting like if you were in front of people while you play music haha)

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For the guitar playing I’ve been A LOT inspired by Alexi Laiho from Children Of
Bodom. I felt in love of his melody style, solos... riffs! I’ve spent around 10 years working on Children of Bodom songs and that helped me to build my guitar
playing style and technique!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

“Exchange your guitar with mine?”

No thanks dude its like if you ask me to exchange my girlfriend…

13. What do you think of your fans?

I love them, and they help us to keep doing music and pushing ourselves!

14. What do you think of our site?

It really looks fresh with nice bands and open-minded approach!

15. Something to add?

Thanks for this interview and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as our album!
Stay tuned for cool upcoming news from us.
