Interviews: The Lotus

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock/Metal band The Lotus from Italy but now living in the UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea came by itself, just listening to the song "Lotus" by REM. As the time goes by we have found new meanings for this name. If you start to search the sacred symbology linked to this flower and the various meanings linked by it's almost impossible to not stay mesmerized.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Genre? Actually we don't like to be labelled and forced to stay in a specific genre. We are just the result of our feelings and ideas. Our musical research starts from the emotions we would like to explain. Genre is just something to make the market easier for the random listeners!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Not at all. We started to play together and we became friends: now we share the same house and same girfriends too! Ok, that was a joke...maybe! Today we look like bohemien artist cause in our house we breath art 360 degrees.

4. Each band member favourite band?

We are very different individuals but we have at least some common point like MUSE, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Slipknot, Tool, Queen, Pearl Jam, Nirvana.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Most of the songs are written by me and Rox and we both get inspired by our everyday life. We think that Words are overrated cause they can change their meanings based on the different mental set of each individual but if you try to write it with the right music we think you can be lead by the frequenciecies on the right path.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Fac251 in Manchester, a few days ago. Now we are gigging in Manchester most of the times cause it's the place where we live. But we're planning some mini tours and some festivals for next year. Obviously we are planning a launch tour for the release of the new album as well.

7. Where would you like to act?

Wherever there's a listener! But Wembley Arena should be enough for now.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We'd like to do a song with a lot of artists to be honest! But maybe having Dave Grohl playing with you would be a good goal to reach.

9. Whom not?

All the fake youtube artists out these days. Internet is a beautiful world but a nightmare at the same time.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We actually still have fear before and during live gigs. I think even bigger artist have it: you simply cannot stop it but you control it. The best thing to beat it or at least lower it is just get super prepared before gigging. I mean, not only be technically skilled with your instruments but also be prepared for every issue that can happen during the live show.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We'd say Pink Floyd and Queen: they are just symbols of diversity, symbols of doing something that's wrong for everyone else at the beginning and then become the flag of something new.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Not really have weird fans so far but we got some 'situations' when we toured US and UK first time so I'll skip this one! :)

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans. That's really what I have to say about them and it's just because they really love our music and that's the best thing you can have from a fan.

14. What do you think of our site?

We have to be sincere: we didn't know Breathing The Car before moving to the UK in 2015. Then we've found it online and we think it's one of the best online music magazine in the UK!

15. Something to add?

Well, if people finish to read this interview and they don't know The Lotus, they might want to know more about us! So you can check out stuff on facebook.com/thelotusofficial or watch our videos on our website www.the-lotus.com.
