Interviews: ONE LAST DAYBREAK

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band ONE LAST DAYBREAK  from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had originally opted for ‘Short of Daybreak’ after the Underoath song of the same title, but the name was taken. We decided to go with a similar name and the first two words ‘One Last’ held some history for the band, so it worked out well!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all loved the 2000’s era emo/post-hardcore scene. We connected together through it and felt our writing style naturally fitted the genre anyway. It’s what caught our attention the most and influenced us, and we wanted to play music that resonated with what we enjoyed listening to.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jack and James (Hart) played in another local band together previously, as did Connor, James (Hicks) and Matt. James (Hart) and Matt knew each other in school and Connor and Matt used to skateboard together years ago, so yeah we kinda did!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Matt’s is Casey
James Hart’s is Senses Fail
Jack’s is Descendents
Connor’s is Scary Kids Scaring Kids
James Hicks’ is Dance Gavin Dance

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our inspiration comes a lot from our personal experiences and things we feel urged to write about. Whether its the lyrics explaining that or the instruments, we’re always looking to tell our journey, our hopes and struggles in our music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in St. Albans.  It was our second gig and our first out of town. That was pretty cool and we had a good response, which is always nice.

7. Where would you like to act?

Aside from of course wanting to travel and play shows abroad, we would love to play KOKO in Camden or the 02 islington. We’ve all collectively seen some of our favourite bands at those venues and it would be amazing to play those stages.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Senses Fail, for sure. They’re a big inspiration to us.

9. Whom not?

It’s a difficult question to answer, we all listen to a wide range of music, so we're not really sure there’s anyone we would be completely against featuring with.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all get nervous, but I think part of that comes from an inner excitement too. Connor used to get really bad with stage fright. The best thing we find to do is to just keep at it, it definitely gets easier and as you start to grow and develop, the enjoyment overtakes that anxiety of performing. That feeling when you get off of stage after playing is amazing.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

From big bands like Senses Fail, Silverstein, Underoath and taking back Sunday with their influence over us, to bands we know like our friends in Take The Backseat, Casey and Better Than Never who its always great to follow the development of and watch grow.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We were on stage recently and a chant for us to take our clothes off starting ringing around, but we’ve been quite lucky on this one!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We’re really thankful to those that have checked us out and supported us at the start of our journey. We’ve had some wonderful responses to our single and some really cool buzz for the EP. We really appreciate the messages of support and its been great to have you all join us! You’re all awesome.

14. What do you think of our site?

Slick. It’s always great to have somewhere to find the latest updates on upcoming songs, musicians and events. Plus, Pop Punk and Pizza is a sure fire way to our hearts.
