News: ABJECTION RITUAL: "Old Sins" Now Playing At Metal Injection; Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth Nears Release Via Malignant Records

Metal Injection has premiered "Old Sins" by Erie, Pennsylvania-based demonization squad, ABJECTION RITUAL, and their impending Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth album, which is rapidly nearing release through Malignant Records.

The final track from Abjection Ritual's Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth brings things to and crushing end; a slow moving, and majestically scaled slab of pure malevolence and torment, built around a dirge-ridden, monolithic bass line and caveman percussion, with a despondent mid-section. It's weighty and glacial and encapsulates the new direction ABJECTION RITUAL has taken.

Metal Injection declares of the track, "The finale runs nine and a half minutes-a fitting, momentous end to a captivating record. It's littered with harsh feedback and thunderous bass. Intermittent, industrial crashes serve as exclamation points for screamed verses. Much of the track's middle section features dark ambient soundscapes. Holistically speaking, it certainly feels very much like Enemy Of The Sun-era Neurosis."

With Soul Of Ruin, Body Of FilthABJECTION RITUAL emerges as a far different beast than on prior recordings, now fully untethered by genre constraints and conventions. Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth is a vast progression from past releases, incorporating guitars, bass, and a live drummer into their arsenal, and in doing so has crafted a far more diverse, idiosyncratic vision, while retaining the atmospherics of heavy electronics and industrial ambience for which they're known throughout the scene.

Like a hybrid of Enemy Of The Sun-era Neurosis, early Swans, Godflesh, IRM, and Khanate, merging with the caustic doom sludge of Halo and Indian, ABJECTION RITUAL's Soul Of Ruin, Body Of Filth is a far more diverse and eclectic journey than the band's previous works. The album features guest appearances by Rennie Resmini (Starkweather) and author Christopher Ropes, and features artwork by Jef Whitehead (Leviathan).
