Interviews: Between The Lines

In this new occasion we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Punk  band Between The Lines from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name comes from a Chunk! No Captain Chunk song 'Between Your Lines'.. Chunk are one of the band's biggest influences so the name is a little nod to them.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

A few of us have dabbled In heavier music over the years but pop punk has always been a love of ours so it's easy to be passionate about the genre.. Plus it's always fun and appealing to most people.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

A few of us did - Our guitarists, bassist and vocalist all went to school together, where as our Drummer was introduced to us at the start of the band last year... one of our guitarists Sam and our bassist Lewis are actually cousins so they've known each other since birth..

4. Each band member favourite band?

It varies quite a lot;

Adam - Deaf Havana
Lewis - Chunk! No Captain Chunk
Tom - Blink 182
Alex - Periphery
Sam - A Day To Remember

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A lot of the time we tend to get inspired by tracks we listen to that give us a kick to create a song that replicates a feeling we get from any given track, it gives our songs a variety of influences that come together to make our sound unique.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at The Horn in St Albans at the start of April, we've taken a few weeks out to work on the set with our new vocalist Alex and to get all our new stage show tech sorted out ready for our first official show with Alex on May 4th at Club 85..

7. Where would you like to play?

One venue we'd really love to play is The Koko in Camden, having been to watch a few bands play there over the year it's been high up on the list of venues to play... festival wise we'd love to get our name on the Slamdunk line up, all of us have been going to Slamdunk South religiously for the past 5-6 years... so to play it would be huge.

8. Who would you like to support?

Supporting the bands that influenced us to start this band would be amazing, playing shows with Chunk! No Captain Chunk, Four Year Strong, As It is or Neck Deep would be insane..

9. Who not?

Tough question... There's no one that springs to mind as to who to avoid - but any band that doesn't support all the bands on any given bill is on our list of no-gos... We've been in agreement since day one that any show we play we will always support and watch every single band we play with whether they play before or after us on the line up, any band that doesn't do that isn't on our list of who to support...

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We've been quite lucky in our stage show always appearing confident, but our lead guitarist Adam suffered a bit at an open mic night at the very beginning of the band, beer helped him play the show that night - but the advice we'd say is be confident and proud of what you're playing, whether there's 5 or 500 people in the room play your heart out and put on a show... if you're proud of your music and what you're doing the confidence flows with ease, but most of all? Enjoy every chance you get to play your music..

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Four Year Strong, Neck Deep, Chunk! No Captain Chunk, As It Is, WSTR, Me Vs Hero, City Lights... A lot of new wave pop punk really!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't had any strange requests so far actually... We sent out a t shirt to a guy in Denmark for free because he's been a huge supporter of us since last year, but that was our idea..

13. What do you think of your fans?

Anyone that listens to our music and enjoys it is important to us whether they are friends or strangers, we set out to give people up beat enjoyable music and if our tracks put a smile on someone's face then it's all been worth the hours of work that we put into the music.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love what you guys do giving exposure and opportunity's to bands that go unnoticed and under the radar of a lot of people, creating playlists of bands for people to check out has actually led to us discovering some of our favourite new bands... So anyone that supports smaller bands to give them a chance is a hero in our books.

15. Something to add?

Just that we hope people check us out and enjoy what we're doing, we've got a real busy summer ahead of us and hopefully we can meet some new people at future shows!
