Interviews: ATLAS

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Northcore/Metalcore band ATLAS, from Findland. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were going through different band names and ATLAS was the one that stuck out the most. Atlas is a titan in Greek mythology that carries the world on his shoulders and the idea of that just resonated with everyone.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We´re all huge fans of the genre so it came naturally. Everyone in the band also listens to everything from pop to ambient to deathcore and we can mix all those elements into our music since metalcore is such a diverse genre. We call that specific brew Northcore.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Tuomas and Aleksi met way back in junior high and started the band. All the other members joined the band through acquaintances, online try-outs and such.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Patrik (vocals) - Nothing More To Eat

Tuomas (guitar) - Counterparts

Aleksi (guitar) - Loathe

Aku (drums) - Owane

Leevi (bass/vocals) - Mr. Bungle

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We're inspired by music mostly but also other forms of art like books, movies, etc. The gloomy landscapes and harsh winters of Scandinavia play a big part in shaping our sound too.

6. Where was your last gig?

Last show was in On The Rocks, Helsinki. Such a great place to play.

7. Where would you like to act? 

We'd love to tour all over the world but Japan probably takes the cake. Latin America would definitely be interesting too!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Bunch of people really. Top 3 would be Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada, Landon Tewers of The Plot in You and Sam Carter from Architects.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

For sure. Play more shows and get comfortable with it. Don't take yourself too seriously, everyone fucks up every now and again. And don't get drunk before you play! Also, a good one is to picture everybody naked.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Black Tongue, Sepultura and GG Allin to name a few.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Gotta be ''Can I suck your dick while you play guitar''.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Beautiful people! We really appreciate all the love we get from our fans!

Fresh! Really like the diversity.
