Interviews: Avalanche

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band Avalanche from Germany. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Tim and Alex thought a lot about the band name. Tim had suggested "Maze", but Alex did not like the names back then. Alex wanted to name the band "Battle Frogs", but Tim thought it was a joke, because that name was so stupid (THANK YOU TIM!). Alex then came up with the name "AVALANCHE" while playing Final Fantasy 7.

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

We all grew up at a time when post-hardcore was very popular. It is therefore clear that we all have been influenced by this style. It is very important to us to create the music we love. It is about love and passion for us.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Tim and Marcel are cousins and played in the same Band with Alex 10 years ago. Tim asked Alex if he would like to found a new Band after completing his studies in 2015. We got to know Nic because he is a well known Singer/Shouter and Songwriter from Essen. Our Drummer Olli is a long-standing colleague of Tim, Marcel and Alex.

Nic: Linkin Park / Disco Ensemble / Enter Shikari / Biffy Clyro

Tim: Boysetsfire / Stick To Your Guns / Millencolin

Marcel: Killswitch Engage / Boysetsfire / Metallica / Foo Fighters

Alex: Heaven Shall Burn  / Enter Shikari 

Olli: Stone Sour / Avenged Sevenfold / Parkway Drive

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We as a band get inspired by the things that affect us. It's about love, hate, happiness and sadness.

6. Where was your last gig? 

In Duisburg, Germany.

7. Where would you like to act? 

We would like to play a sold out show at the Live Music Hall in Cologne in front of a sick crowd.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

That´s a tough question, because there are so many good artists in many different genres we love.

9. Whom not?

We would never work together with artists who spread any kind of hate and separation.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We think, that you should always believe in yourself and your abilities. You should think of what you have already achieved. Just enjoy the things you do on stage or wherever you represent yourself, your band and your music. We as a band see ourselves as a family. We do what we love with people we love. That is the greatest thing one can think of. That gives us much power and self-confidence.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

We would say, that Silverstein and Boysetsfire are the bands that inspired us the most.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Some time ago some guy at a festival asked us if we could give him an autograph on his ass. He said: "Kannst du meinen Arsch signieren?" Which means "Can you sign my ass?" That was the weirdest thing EVER! 

13. What do you think of your fans? 

They are loyal and full of love and passion for the music they love.

14. What do you think of our site?

We really appreciate and thankfull that there are people like you who give bands a platform to be heard in times that are hard for the music scene and especially for bands in our genre.

We want to say thank you for what you do and for giving us the chance to be heard.
