Interviews: Liquid State

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band Liquid State, from UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I (Keren) originally came up with it randomly and suggested that it be used as a song name, though Kray liked it as a band name and so we agreed and thus Liquid State was born!

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

For all of us rock and metal has been the main genre of music that we listen too and feel passionate towards, so therefore it’s what we naturally fell into playing. A female fronted metal band always interested us too, and we knew it was something that we wanted to pursue.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Kray and I were already in a relationship before the band started and were in the same year at college. Harry was in the year below us and Kray was the producer for his old bands music, so they knew each other through recording. Kray and I didn’t meet Ben until Kray and Harry started uni, Harry vaguely knew him as a friend of his friends, so he contacted him and asked him to be our bass player.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Keren - Marmozets
Harry - Arcane Roots
Kray - Periphery
Ben - Metallica

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My biggest inspiration for our songs lyrics is documentaries. I binge watch a lot of dark crime documentaries in my spare time and you’ll find a lot of my lyrics are written about  murders, prostitution, a generally other taboo subjects. I feel that I get a lot more emotion come through darker lyrics than the basic love song lyrics.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at The Mothers Ruin in Bristol

7. Where would you like to act?

Playing any of the festivals such as Bloodstock, Download and Arctangent would be sick!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

CJ from Dream State would be wicked, she’s an incredible vocalist.

9. Whom not?

I don’t think we’re really against anyone if i’m honest, although Kray says he’d rather not feature with Rihanna, fair one I guess?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we’ve all suffered from stage fright at some point, playing in front of people can be scary business!

Harry’s advice to people with stage fright and how he overcame it is to just throw yourself into the deep end, get in a band that gigs regularly and embrace sucking for a while; because once you get over the initial learning curve being on stage becomes second nature.

For Kray it was remembering that people have paid to come and see us play, and that we should give them their moneys worth and send them home remembering who we are.

I think our biggest tip though, is if you're of age, a cheeky beer never goes amiss to help those pre gig nerves.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

I’d say we’ve all been inspired by different people, as a vocalist my inspirations are Becca from Marmozets and CJ from Dream State. Not only are they incredible vocalists they both seem humble, down to earth people and I fully rate that in musicians.

Harry fully rates Arcane Roots, he likes how much emotion Andrew sings with and how all of the instrumentation fits - it sounds like they've thought about every single element of every track they write, plus their live shows are mad!
Kray takes his inspiration from Periphery’s Mark Holcombe, as he writes cool chord and melodic sections that kray finds really interesting

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Hmm, I don’t think we’ve had any weird asks from any fans, although we did have Harry’s aunty crack us up when we gave her the mic for the chorus of Dirty Little Preachers at a gig and she got the lyrics completely wrong in front of one of our biggest crowds! She was absolutely mortified but it was hilarious and we’ll never let her live it down, ha ha she’s amazing!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are legit the best people, it’s these guys who let us continue on this mad journey! We have so much support from our fans, from the ones who come down to our every gig to the ones that like and share our posts, it all counts and we are so appreciative of it. So if you’re a fan, and you’re reading this, thank you, you’re a legend and we wouldn’t be where we are without you!

14. What do you think of our site?

We love the site! We spent some time browsing through all of the interviews and videos and there were some dead interesting things that we came across, especially the ‘behind the artwork’ section! We also discovered some sick bands that we’d love to gig with sometime!

15. Something add?

There’s a free beer for the first person to start the mosh pit at any of our shows!
