Interviews: Memories In Broken Glass

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metal/Metalcore band Memories In Broken Glass, from USA. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our name actually came from our first vocalist while the band was in its infantsy! We started in high school and went through ALOT of members and our sound was always changing, but we just held on to the name and here we are today.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I think metal kind of speaks to all of us as a collective. Early on we all listened to heavier stuff and we all wanted to be apart of that movement. Now as we've grown older a lot of us listen to a wide variety of music and have kind of listened to less metal, but we try to make something unique to bring to the table.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

A few of us did! Myself and Randy (bassist) attending the same elementary school but we were grades apart so didn't really interact too much. Justin(guitar) moved to our hometown around high school times and we crossed paths a few times around that time, and when he joined another local band Eternity Will Fail we started running into each other much more. And then I decided to recruit him haha! George (drums) came from an even smaller town but was near by and was very known about his drumming ability. He saw something in us and joined the lineup shortly afterwards. Saul (vocals) is the newest in the fold, he recently joined us since the Barriers EP after finding some videos of himself on YouTube and we knew it would be a perfect fit!

4. Each band member favourite band?

We do but I can't speak for everyone haha. My personal favorite band would probably have to be Between The Buried And Me just because they are masters of their craft, but theres a lot of close runner ups!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

That just depends. Sometimes I'll come across an album or song and it'll get my creative juices going, other times I just wake up with a melody or groove in my head and I rush to flesh it out. Maybe I've been going through a good/bad time, anything can influence the mojo.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was actually here in our hometown San Antonio! We played Fitzgeralds which is personally where I prefer to play here in town and its always a good time!

7. Where would you like to act?

We have yet to explore the East Coast, so that is definitely something that is on our wishlist. But I'll go back to Oregon or Washington anyway! (except in the winter lol)

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Personally, I'd like to have Rick Graham or like Rabea Masaad on a track! They both have such great taste I'd love to see how that would turn out.

9. Whom not?

Lil Xann haha

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I'm fortunate enough that I've never really had that problem. Sometimes I'll get butterflies, but I enjoy the feeling because it pushes me to put on the best performance possible! If in doubt just say "fuck it" and rock out haha

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

BTBAM, Tesseract, Tool, Soilwork, Devin Townsend, the list can go on and on

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Sign their shoe... I don't know why haha

13. What do you think of your fans?

We LOVE our fans! We're consistently trying to think of ways to give back or keep them entertained because they are the reason we're here!:)

14. What do you think of our site?

I really dig it! The content of interviews, albums and artworks if perfect for checking out new bands. I know theres a literal TON of bands out nowadays but I dig the degree of professionalism in the bands ya'll(Texas talk) choose to cover and it peaks my interest in wanting to see who all is out there making music and moves. Thank you for digging what we do and having me on here Jon!
