Interviews: Lost Nebula

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Alternative/Progressive Metal band Lost Nebula from Mexico. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.- Where did you get the idea for the band name?

We were looking for a name that could represent the band’s style properly. It was not our highest priority at first, but every band needs a name. It all came from an intense series of brainstorming; Harry came with the name Lost Nebula and everyone in the band agreed almost instantly.

2.-Why did you want to play this genre?

According to our likings and personalities, we consider the progressive side of music to be the most fitting. For us, it is easy to express ourselves this way, since you can technically do whatever you like with this type of music, and because of this, we always have fun playing our songs.
3.-Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, the only ones that knew each other were Harry and Quetzalin, they met in college. The band started when Harry met Julio and decided to work on unfinished songs from Harry’s last project.
4.-Each band member favorite band

We have similar, yet different tastes in music. Julio is more into classic rock and metal bands, with Iron Maiden being his favorite. Harry’s favorite bands are Dream Theater, Karnivool and Linkin Park. Quetzalin on the other hand is more into Paramore and Foo Fighters. José is into the extreme is his favorite. And Alex is on the heavy side of progressive metal, with Between side of technical metal, anything related to progressive, death or math metal The Buried and Me, Opeth and Dream Theater being his favorites.
5.-Who or what inspires you to write songs.
We try to inspire ourselves in real-life situations, adding a dark and mysterious approach, but the message at the end is always positive, giving us to understand that, in spite of the storm, in the end the sun always raises, everything happens for a reason and this life is worth it, despite the problems that exist in this world.

6.-Where was your last gig?

We had our last show at our hometown Hermosillo, Sonora during our Time Travel Tour 2018. This was part of a regional tour in the state of Sonora, along with Navojoa, Aguaprieta, and Hermosillo.
7.-Where would you like to act?
We would like to act in festivals like Wacken, Rock am Ring, Hellfest and share stage with great rock bands. Also, we would like to touring around the world. But it doesn’t matter the place, we are always glad to play for people and makes us happy when they like Lost Nebula.

8.-Whom would you like to feature with?
If we have to choose… we think… Ian Kenny from Karnivool. He is very talented, his voice is unique for us, and we think we have some Karnivool influences so his collaboration would definitely fits with our music.

9.-Whom not?
We think every single musician has something unique to show, so we’d never refuse a featuring as long as the collaboration can create something really good. Have you ever heard Within Temptation with X-zibit? Well, that’s a great example to answer this question.

10.-Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Fortunately not. But something funny happens:  Every time when the moment to go on the stage comes, we feel like nervous but at the same time anxious in a good way, to play. For us there’s no happiest moment then waiting for us. Our tip for new musicians is to enjoy the moment, be yourself playing on the stage and entertaining people, foremost if they are there it. You never know when is going to be the last time you’ll be there. and do your best. Every time you are on a stage, in front of the public, enjoy

11.-What bands have inspired you the most?
This is a hard question to answer. We always take the best from bands we already liked or just discovered. We could say our biggest influences are related to our favourite bands, but sometimes we find new bands which are Dream Theater is one of our main influences along with Karnivool, Tool, Iron not among our top 5 favourite bands, but we can take the best of the anyways. Maiden and few others.

12.-What is the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
It is not super weird, but is very common that people asking for a lock of Julio’s hair. Is very funny.

13.-What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are very generous and supportive people. They are always there for us when we are about to play anywhere, they always help us with every activity we make to support us, and honestly, we are always grateful that we be successful and grow up without the help of its fans. have this kind of people in our fan base. We’ve always said that a band cannot
14.-What do you think of our site?
It has been always something admirable that there are sites, pages and spaces that support bands, foremost new bands. When you start a musical project, the most difficult part is to show yourself as a musician to the public. Since there are a lot artists nowadays over time is very difficult to be recognized by public. With sites like Breathing the Core makes easier the grateful for this interview and the opportunity to show ourselves as who we path to be recognized by the public… like you are doing with us. We are very are.
