Interviews: Mountain Estates

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Post-Hardcore  band Mountain Estates from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Honestly, I'm pretty sure it was a joke name given to where I live in the country, there's lots of hills and mountains near my house where I go for walks regularly and it's just a really chill place. I thought the name 'Mountain Estates' sounds like a nice place to escape from the rest of the world and that's exactly what this project means to me so I thought the name fit perfectly.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This genre wasn't planned in my head. It's just a cathartic project where I can play how I feel and it usually ends up sounding pretty heavy or emotional, which suits the Post-Hardcore genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew Joe Rogers (Guitar) before I formed the band. I met Mike Sheppard (Bass) and Ciaran Dowle (Drums) through mutual musical interests.

4. Each member favourite band?

All our favourite band's are Dance Gavin Dance haha. We just love 'em!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Personal situations and experiences are always what trigger a song for me. I sometimes end up freestyling the lyrics as I record them in the studio. Embarrassment was recorded immediately following some pretty bad news and was finished in under 2 hours.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was a hometown show in Hereford! It was honestly the most fun any of us have ever played so far!

7. Where would you like to act?

Worldwide please.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would honestly like to tour with bands that aren't afraid to write weird music. Middle of the road isn't really our thing (despite our first EP) We wanna tour with bands like Nekrogoblikon, Issues, Enter Shikari.

9. Whom not?

I guess if we played with Deathcore bands, we might stand out a bit...

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all used to get stage fright. Now, we're way past the nervous stage. We haven't played any MASSIVE shows yet so, who knows, the nerves might freak us all out but for small shows, it's never usually overwhelming. To any new bands, I'm aware that written words won't do justice to finding it out for yourself BUT I would definitely say to focus on the amazing fact that you're on stage with your friends and everyone's there to see you! also, seriously don't worry about sounding bad or messing up, you gotta start somewhere!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Holding Absence and Loathe. We know the guys in both bands and we've seen them go from local supports to where they are now. Seeing that pay off for hardworking musicians is honestly the best thing ever. Mega proud of those guys!

12. What´s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One time at a show, with my other band, a middle-aged woman was very drunk and yelled into the microphone that she thought we were all very sexy. Our parents were also watching.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Quiet online but they go mental at shows, especially playing locally in Hereford or Worcester.

14. What do you think of our site?

I would definitely say the 'Breathing The Core' website looks professional. I like the embedded streaming services. There's some great bands on there!

15. Something to add?

I would love to see a music video on the homepage ready for me to watch.  Thank you from Mountain Estates!
