Interviews: Rozu

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Post-Hardcore  band Rozu from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

DJ and myself (Tim) had compiled a list of about 25 names and Rozu was one of them. We kept going over all these names and got them down to two options for a name one being Letters Home and then Rozu. From there we kind of reached out to some of our fans from previous projects and really close friends that always gave good opinions and the general consensus was Rozu. It was a super beautiful name and out of ordinary for us being Japanese for Rose and from there we just started creating this whole vision around a Rose blooming from a pile of dirt with all its rose friends dying around it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all grew up on this type of music and are 100% in love with the raw power and aggressiveness of the genre. We are a weird bunch though because even as we are writing now I don’t think we will ever be a 100% metalcore band because we write how we are feeling at the time and with that brings a lot of different songs. We want to stay in this realm of a heavier Post Hardcore band and bring back our major influences in our sound but for now we have to get some aggression off our chests!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The only one we all didn’t really know on a personal level was Henry aka Hank (bass). DJ (guitar) and myself (Tim Vocals) played in a previous band together and Brian (drums) is in another band from Fort Collins we have shared the stage with and is just a super good dude. I kind of just scouted around and especially talked with Hank and Brian and told them our vision we had and showed them some demos and it all just clicked. It’s a super fresh breath of air when you are in a band who all have the same drive and good vibes all around. We are all very very excited to get this project going.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Tim Graham (Vocals) - Underoath

DJ Sundine (Guitars) - The Color Morale

Henry Navarre (bass) - Taking Back Sunday

Brian Robertson (drums) - Relient K

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It really depends on the day to be honest. For the batch of songs we have now we just really wanted to write some aggressive music that was truly inspired from the likes of Like Moths To Flames, Plot In You (older Plot), and Currents. We all have different backgrounds in our musical taste which makes it super interesting for us writing because we have these heavy songs but can switch the table up super quick with Jazzy songs and acoustic piano ballads. We like to keep ourselves on our toes and progress as musicians on a fast scale so hopefully it translates all over because we don’t want to confine ourselves to one specific sounds.

6. Where was your last gig?

We haven’t gotten to be show ready quite yet but, just wait for it because we are bringing something different to the table.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Being from Denver Colorado we all really want to play Red Rocks. That place is absolutely majestic and is a dream for every musician living in Colorado.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

I would love to play with Underoath now that they are back! God that band is such an inspiration!

9. Whom not?

We are down to take whatever opportunity comes up, I think the exception would be Brokencyde.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I for sure have but when it comes to be game time you just have to go out there and do your thing. Biggest tip is just feel the music, if you truly love playing you’re going to be just fine!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Underoath, Chiodos, Every Time I Die, The Color Morale, and Saosin to name a few. These bands’ style really are the ones that stand out to me with our sound the most.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Back in the day a fan wanted my sweat towel which.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are super awesome and supportive! We love you all so much to translate to this new band from our previous groups and the response we are receiving are exceeding our expectations. It will be incredible to continue to give you guys new things to look forward to because we have no plans of slowing down.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love the site and are super stoked about what you guys are doing for the music community. Big ups and continue what you guys are doing!

15. Something to add?
