Interviews: Earth Eater

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Technical Deathcore band Earth Eater from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea behind the name Earth Eater is the concept of the human race slowly consuming and destroying our planet and resources.  To us, the name fits our sound well without the excessive gore seen in many names of metal bands.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We attempt to mix the genres of death metal, djent, and hardcore together to create something that fans haven't heard before. Josh has a hardcore vibe to his vocals with a wide range and brutal lows, Cody adds groove and style to fast and technical death metal drums with complex double bass parts, and I (Benton) add groovy death metal riffs with djent influenced rhythm parts, along with technical sweeping lead patterns on guitar.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Cody and Josh went to high school together in Oregon but I didn't know either of them since i'm originally from Wisconsin.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Benton: All Shall Perish
Josh: Wage War
Cody: Fallujah

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are inspired by emotions and life experiences to write music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at the Tonic Lounge in Portland, Oregon.  It was our second show as a group and are super stoked to play more shows locally and around the region!

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to be able to work our way up to a larger US tour by starting with the pacific northwest and eventually picking up a west coast tour.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would be stoked to collaborate and tour with other relevant bands in our genre  All Shall Perish, Decapitated, Fallujah, Extortionist, Wage War, Currents, Oceano, Shadow of Intent, Enterprise Earth, and many others to name a few.

9. Whom not?

We are mainly focused on playing shows and collaborating with other bands that are as motivated as we are to having our music reach a wider audience.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I'm sure we all have been in situations where we felt nervous before playing on stage in front of people, and everyone copes with those feelings in their own way.  I feel that the most important thing you can do to set yourself up for success on stage is to practice your parts more than you feel necessary, which will allow you to focus more on having a good time on stage because the technical parts will be automatic.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We each have our own inspirations for writing and pushing music.  For us, Wage War, Fallujah, and All Shall Perish have each been influences to our members to name a few.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't had many interactions with fans yet since we are relatively new to the scene but we had an awesome fan buy a handful of CD's from us at our last show!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are the best in the world!  Without them, we would not be able to continue creating the music that we love.

14. What do you think of our site?

Breathing the Core is really helping to spread the word about up and coming bands in the heavy music scene.

15. Something add?

We recently released our debut album 'Oblivion', check it out on Spotify, Youtube, or Bandcamp:  https://eartheaterofficial.bandcamp.com/

Any support is appreciated, and we are super excited to be releasing more content soon!

Thank you to Jon at Breathing the Core for having us interview and sharing our music!
