Interviews: Forgotten Sons

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Rock band Forgotten Sons from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name came from a love for Rise Against and a song titled "Long Forgotten Sons". Also, with Shetland specializing in accordian and fiddle music, we felt slightly under the radar on the main music scene so we thought the name Forgotten Sons fitted quite well. I don't think we sat down and planned the name as such. It just came about.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We have grown up listening to this style of music. There isn't too many bands who play this genre in Shetland so we wanted to be different. Folk music takes over the music scene up here.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We knew each other from other bands. We constantly supported each other on the music scene.

4. Each band members favourite band?

Birdy Burgess - The Gaslight Anthem

John Gair - Lower Than Atlantis

Sandy and John Valentine claim they don't have a favourite band.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life itself inspires us to write songs. We all listen to different genres and bands. It just depends who or what we are listening to.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played the Shetland Bikers Rally where a lot of bikers throughout Britain come and party. It is a brilliant weekend and an opportunity to showcase out talents and let folk hear our songs.

7. Where would you like to play?

We'd love to play big festivals anywhere in the world. But have a secret love for tiny venues. There is something about the intimacy of a small place.

8. Who would you like to support?

We'd love to support our favourite bands and up and coming bands in Britain.
Make friends on the way as everyone loves to help other out.

9. Who not?

Musicians who are only in it for the money and the not the love of it all.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Our guitarist sometimes gets the jitters. We have a laugh and joke about it onstage if it doea happen. You need to loosen up and go out there and have fun.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Alkaline Trio, Biffy Clyro, Tom Petty, Rise Against... Too many to name!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We had a fan ask if she could get one of our band logos tattooed on her arm. We thought it was a cool gesture.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans. They give us the confidence to continue writing songs and keep playing gigs.

14. What do you think of our site?

We like the site. The fact that you guys give bands like us a chance to get our name out there is a huge help. Keep doing what you are doing.

15. Something to add?

We'd just like to thank you for asking us to do this and hope we work with you again.
