Interviews: Never Home

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Pop Punk band Never Home from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Before we were even a band, I (Nick) posted on Reddit asking for help naming my musical project. Someone suggested the name Never Home. I really liked it because it had a “classic” sound to it, and also is a New Found Glory lyric.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Each of us were drawn to the honesty in the lyrics and the passion behind the music. We have a lot to say, and punk rock is a very cathartic outlet.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Not at all. We met via Craigslist and just happened to mesh well as people and as musicians. Ian and Dan met previously at a The Story So Far show, but that was the only instance of any of us meeting each other beforehand.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Dan: The Wonder Years.
Devon: Underoath.
Rob: blink-182.
Nick: Anberlin.
Ian: The Gaslight Anthem.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life experiences. Listening to our favorite bands. The desire to push ourselves as artists.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played a hometown show at The Milestone Club in Charlotte, NC.

7. Where would you like to perform?

Locally, we would really like to play The Fillmore or The Underground in Charlotte. The Music Factory is one of our favorite local areas. On a grander scale, we have always dreamed of playing Warped Tour. Unfortunately, we'll have to lay that dream to rest. Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado will have to do.

8. Who would you like to share the stage with?

The Wonder Years have inspired all of us over the years and continue to do so. To share the stage with them would be a dream come true. Without The Wonder Years, Never Home probably would not exist. Also, Tom-era blink-182.

9. Whom not?

Jam bands whose sets are one continuous song. We've suffered through enough of those as a local band.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I (Nick) absolutely do. Honestly, there is no easy way to beat it. Never Home is the first band I have ever fronted. I am still finding my groove as a frontman and will be doing so for awhile. It does gets better with time and repetition. Push through the anxiety and continue to hone your craft and define your stage presence. As silly as it sounds, practicing with your instrument in front of a mirror is a great way to work on your stage dynamics.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Wonder Years, Motion City Soundtrack, The Dangerous Summer, Anberlin. The way these bands are able to convey emotion in such a straightforward yet beautiful way really speaks to us.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We haven't really had anything too crazy. One time at a show a girl covered her stomach with a bunch of our stickers, which was interesting.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are incredibly dedicated. We're not the biggest band, but we have a following of people who are willing to drive hours to see us. That blows our minds. We are so thankful for anyone who supports us in any way, whether that be streaming half a song or driving entire states over to watch us play. We love talking with our listeners and sharing experiences. Lyrically, we wear our hearts on our sleeves, and that opens us up to some interesting, meaningful conversations with fans.

14. What do you think of our site?

Good stuff! Thank you so much for having us!
