Interviews: The Parallax Method

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Rock band The Parallax Method from UK. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Dr Claire Parfitt, genuine rocket scientist, bestowed us with the name and meaning

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We wanted the infinite potential to play to zero people.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes we did, Danny and Dave were originally in a band called Isolysis together. Ben was a member of Spirytus who our manager also managed. Danny had filled in for Spirytus several times. Bands aside though, we are great friends and totally on the same wavelength musically and in life!

4. Each band member favourite band?

Ben - Bass- incubus
Dave - Drums - karnivool
Danny - Guitar - incubus

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We genuinely inspire each other. Cheesy we know. We challenge each other.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was at The Maze in Nottingham – Hometown show.

7. Where would you like to play?

There are lots of places we’d love to play but Arctangent would be top of the list currently.

8. Who would you like to support?

Its impossible to narrow it down to one – Steve Wilson, Opeth, Pilini, Tesseract….the list goes on.

9. Who not?

Drake

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I don’t think we’d say we suffer to be honest. Usually, if it’s a bigger show the adrenalin will see you through. Good idea to just take a minute to focus and breath before you go on though.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We have extremely diverse influences. Opeth, Eric Johnson, Between the buried and me, Tesseract, Periphery, Steve Vai, Big Wreck, Steven Wilson, Dorje, Plini, Karnivool, Animals As Leaders, Nick Johnston, The Aristocrats. All these, to name just a few, help to shape our ideas but we also draw a huge amount of inspiration from each other. We each drive the others forward and encourage one another to push the boundaries of our playing and ideas.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To buy merch

13. What do you think of your fans?

We like our fan, we would like to one day recruit a second so that our mum is not stood on her own.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s a very cool site. Easy to navigate. Very snazzy indeed.

15. Something to add?

Lots more Parallax Method
