Interviews: Crystal Plains

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the  Progressive Metalcore band Crystal Plains from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, it was planned or just came like that?

It was a spontaneous decision based around several different possible names we thought of, and after discovering the track “Crystal Plains” by The Helix Nebula(shout out to those dudes) we decided that name was more accurate to the sound we were creating.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This genre is everything that we are, we have moments where we can feel calm and we have moments where we can feel aggressive. But A lot of the time we can be both and I think this music helps express how multidimensional we can be.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We have known each other for a long time. We’ve all known each other since our youth, and throughout the years of knowing each other we realized we all share the same vision, personally and musically.
4. Each band member favourite band?

David(Vox): Relient K
Jesus(Guitar): August Burns Red
Chris(Bass): Circa Survive
Abel(Guitar): The contortionist
Daniel(Drums): Hail the sun

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Many bands and life experiences influenced us all to express ourselves through our music on our own personal efforts.
6. Where was your last gig?

Brooklyn, NY at the Kingsland (April 20th) Opening for Jason Richardson and Luke Holland on their tour with cryptodira and sentinels
7. Where would you like to act?

Performing at the Main Stage at Warped, but it doesn't seem like that's likely past this summer. RIP Warped. We’d really like to tour in South America/ Central America, Maybe even the UK. Colorado seems like where we can find ourselves ideally stopping at during any run/tour we’d be fortunate to be apart of.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’d be stoked for a feature with CJ from Thy art is murder, Michael Lessard from The contortionist, Randy Blythe from Lamb of god, or really anyone that would want to work with us.
9. Whom not?

Were more open to the idea of collaborating with others than anything else, unless it’s bands like Animals as Leaders, Chon, or Vitalism. They sound way too good on their own.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Nervousness is a part of the process of playing shows. Not knowing what the gig is going to be like, the only reassuring force we all rely on is our individual and collective efforts of practice. Our confidence is built off of how much we have prepared ourselves for a show/tour.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Relient K, Northlane-(Discoveries-Singularity), Like Moths to Flames, Traitors, Silent Planet, Miss May I, Title Fight, Mouth Of The South, Chon, Intervals, Invent animate, and the contortionist to name a few.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

David(Vox)-My autograph, I didn't have one when they asked me for one so I'm not sure what I wrote.

13. What do you think of your fans?
We are appreciative of all the people who our music resonates with. We’re always down to have them hang out with us, it'd be cool to just make conversation and hear about what they're all about.
14. What do you think of our site?

This is a great site, It's cool that you guys reach out to the locals to spread the word on music. We’ve got a lot respect for that, so thank you.

15. Something add?

We are really excited to start releasing new material, and even more excited to start recording our newer material. Follow us @crystalplainsnj. And thanks for your time.
