Interviews: Dyasluna

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Dyasluna from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

"Dyasluna" is a loose translation that can mean either "two moons" or "devil moon" in Latin. Founding member G$ came up with it after being inspired by the word "Eyasluna," named after a gun in the popular video game Destiny, and researched Latin prefixes and suffixes to make the name Dyasluna.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?

All members of the band have been inspired by hardcore music growing up, and we want to use that medium to inspire people with our own message about coping with depression.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all knew each other before Dyasluna; G$ and Peter have been writing music together since high school, and played together in Ocean Marie (HTX); G$ and Matt have played together before in The Alchemist (HTX). G$ and Peter were even roommates in college!
4. Each band member favourite band?

All of our songs are inspired by depression, and have a theme that in some way relates to having an ever-present depression. So, we try to incorporate as many different topics about life as possible, and draw influence from personal experiences, things that inspire us, and our imagination, while always trying to tie it back to living life with depression. We hope that by doing that, we can create a relatable environment for people experience depression or other hard times, and basically have their back!
5. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at the For the Scene Festival at the White Swan in Houston. It was a sweet gig, with a nice crowd of great people coming out and donating ticket/merch sales to Texas Childrens'. It was a great even for us because we felt like the theme of the event really went along with our message and got us thinking about other things we can do to use our band for good.
6. What bands have inspired you the most?

One band we are particularly inspired by is Norma Jean. It would be a bucket list thing for all of us to open for them, no doubt about that!
7. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all feel pretty confident because we have spent our teenage years playing in marching band, bands with friends, and really just trying to have fun with it. If you want to overcome stage fright, just keep doing it, do it by yourself, in front of your mom, your roommate, your boyfriend/girlfriend, joining different music groups, and as many other things that come your way as possible. Find out whatever your "thing" is, and just keep doing it!
8. What bands have inspired you the most?

We already mentioned Norma Jean, they are a huge inspiration for us. One more band we have been inspired by throughout the years is Bring Me The Horizon.
9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We're pretty weird, so we challenge our fans to ask us for weird things. Okay, that sounds pretty bad, but still...
10. What do you think of your fans?

They are really cool people, taking the time to support local music and giving new artists the time of day. We really appreciate them and are perpetually driven to make our shit cooler for them to enjoy and be entertained by.
11. What do you think of our site?

Breathing the Core is super lit. They take the time and energy to promote artists at a critical time in their careers, FOR FREE. Which in any way is always a huge help. We feel very lucky to have Breathing the Core spread our message.
12. Something add?

If you know or think you have depression, it doesn't mean your life is over, we don't have all the answers but we can relate, so we love you at Dyasluna and are just an instant message away. G$
