Interviews: Nemaind

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Dark Metal band Nemaind from Spain. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

Well, we where looking for a name that fitted with our music style, so, we picked Nemain (an ancient celtic battle spirit) and added a D, for better sonority and originallity.

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

We started a Nemaind as a Melodic Death Metal band, and our sound has been evoling since day 1. We chose melodic death metal because our individual music influences converged.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Just both guitar players, Gerard and David. Later, we incorporated Alex at the keyboard and he was an old friend of both too.

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Favourite band is a liquid concept that may vary through time, but at the moment they are:

Gerard and David: Moonspell

Ferran: Gojira

Martí: Woods of Ypres

Alex: Steely Dan

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

We get inspired by our emotional mood, occultism, nature and stuff like that. When we create, we try to teleport our listeners to a big open space where magic (Not just fantasy magic but inside-your-soul magic too) happens and fills every hole of your thoughts.

When we enter the lyrical aspect, we don't like vanilla lyrics so we try to speak about human feelings and social and political condition, but most time it's very subliminal.

In resume, we try to make music that ressembles an enourmous and open air place, where you can find your inner magic.

6. Where was your last gig?

In Barcelona (Sant Adrià del Besòs) wiith Astray Valley, Humash and Darned (Now Akathis).

7. Where would you like to act? 

Everywhere, if people enjoy our work. Now our plans after we record and release our second EP are growing bigger, visiting new cities to play and play in some festivals with several other bands.

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

There are pleny of bands that we would love to play with them, but we love a doom/death metal band from Mallorca called Helevorn, so we would love to play with them.

9. Whom not? 

We don't have so much problems with other bands, despite they play metal or not. But we would not play with a band that expresses fascism or hate speech with his work.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

Not really, but focusing on your bandmates and letting your music occupy your mind must work!

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Is obvious that Moonspell has a lot of influences to us. But also we get inspiration from another artists like Nine Inch Nails or Type o Negative, but most time the result does not resemble those bands sound. 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Our craziest fan has still not appeared yet. We are waiting you, friend!

13. What do you think of your fans? 

We do not see them as fans, we see them as friends that we have a lot in common.

It's really nice see some websites t'hat really work with non-top band and helps musicians to grow up, so thank you!
