Interviews: Those Greasy Bastards

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Trash Metal/Metalcore band Those Greasy Bastards from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were just joking around trying to brainstorm about band names at practice and one of us said “Those Greasy Bastards” and it stuck.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s just what we’ve always listened to and it’s what we’re good at. Although most of us even have side projects or interests in other genres as well.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

For the most part yes. Jason and Randy grew up living next door to each other. Jason and Joey met as kids at church when they were around 10 years old. Joey and Sevyn went to high school together and became close friends in their senior year. The four even had a band called Ashes of Vela inspired by bands like The Acacia Strain before starting up Those Greasy Bastards. Jason eventually met Jake through work and he was the missing piece to the puzzle that the band needed to take off.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Joey - The Chariot
Jason - The Story So Far
Randy - Green Day
Sevyn - Baroness
Jake - Title Fight

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Our influences mixed with our past experiences are what usually drive us. But there are totally times where we just do it for the fun of it. Music is just our passion and we love to do it.

6. Where was your last gig?

Bar XIII in Wimington Delaware with Born With Open Eyes, Dead City Crown, The Rise and Fall, and Atrox Terra

7. Where would you like to act?

There’s no specific place we’d like to go, we just wanna go make fans and friends anywhere and everywhere we can

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

If there were one band we had to choose it would definitely be Every Time I Die. They were our biggest inspiration when starting the band.

9. Whom not?

No bands specifically, just any band with a negative or hateful message we would prefer to stay away from

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We all still get some preshow jitters from time to time, but once we get going we’re all in and the nervousness fades off quick. We’d say that if you’re a beginner, to not care about messing up or playing a wrong note. No one is perfect, just keep the show going and have fun.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

For all of us it’s different, but generally The Chariot is huge for our stage presence and bands like Norma Jean, The Bled, and Every Time I Die are huge for our sound. But even outside the band we’ve been inspired by bands like The Story So Far, Mccafferty, and The Front Bottoms.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Not sure, we’re all goofy and fun dudes so any fan that’s ever asked us something weird we probably befriended and were weird right back to them

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans and try our best to get to know and be friends with any and every fan we can

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is kickass. It’s really great so see a site that cares about the music scene at a local level and is willing to give smaller bands some exposure.

15. Something add?

Thank you for the interview!
