Interviews: Tides Of Man

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Rock band Tides Of Man from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name Tides Of Man?

Like a lot of bands we spent months hammering out names. Until one day we were doing a photoshoot for a local newspaper by the water, and someone said "Tides of Man" and that was it! Our songs also had messages about mankind so it all worked.

2. What inspired your move towards becoming an Instrumental band?

We all were into instrumental bands growing up, so it was natural to us. In our college days we were listening to Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Tortoise, etc.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all met through music, jamming together and eventually forming the band. We had a couple of other bands before Tides of Man.

4. Who or what inspired Every Nothing?

The idea that even the small "nothings" in life have a big impact on everything else. Essentially, looking at things from the smaller perspective, at the bigger picture.

5. Where was your last gig?

We just got off tour and our last gig was at the mighty ArcTanGent festival in Bristol, UK. It was amazing.

6. Where would your dream performance take place?

Maybe in Iceland?

7. Whom would you like to perform with?

Radiohead, Mogwai, Sigur Ros.

8. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright?

Yeah, when I first started playing, for sure. It was usually the smaller crowds that freaked me out more than the big ones. Bigger crowds make it so you don’t see everyone's facial expression.

9. Any tip for beginners on how to beat stage fright?

Just have fun playing, that's all it's about.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Radiohead, Outkast, Led Zeppelin.

11. What do you think of your fans?

Having a complete stranger know, and love, your music gives us one of the best feelings you could ask for. We owe them a lot.

12. Anything else to add?

Thanks for chatting with us. Keep an eye out for US Tour dates (soon hopefully) and don't forget to check out our merch store at www.athousandarms.store/collections/tidesofman
