Interviews: Upon The Water

In this new occassion we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metalcore band Upon The Water from USA. Check out the interview and this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our name came from the first line in the song “Oceans” by Hillsong United, it was a song that meant a lot to us at the time.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We love heavy music, and there’s nothing quite like the energy at a live metal show.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We’ve all met through our local music community either playing together or watching each other’s bands play.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Counterparts, Northlane, Veil of Maya, Being as an Ocean

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Personal strife/experience, introspection, with a healthy dose of world events.

6. Where was your last gig?

The MSC in Murrieta.

7. Where would you like to act?

We'd love to play at Sneaky Dee's in Canada, Chain Reaction and Soma are always great, anywhere in Australia.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

“A big dream of mine would be to do vocals for a Shai Hulud tour/album. And I’d absolutely lose my mind if I ever got to do anything with Counterparts or have Brendan Murphy on a song.” -Kendall

9. Whom not?

We are open to playing with just about anyone to be honest.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We don’t really get stage fright, but preparedness is for sure the best way to overcome stage fright. Know your stuff inside and out so that you can enjoy the rest of the experience.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Architects, Counterparts, August Burns Red, Northlane, TGI, STYG, Shai Hulud, Parkway Drive, and Being as an Ocean

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We’ve had fans ask us to sign certain body parts...

That’s always awkward.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are our family, everything we do, we do for them and we wish we had played for them more.

14. What do you think of our site?

Your site is awesome! The more awareness we can bring to this scene the better, and the content is super rad.
